when i was a construction laborer i was directed to "not see" any pottery shards i might happen to find in our excavation. 😂
Might be worth doing a comparison to Italy at some time. I believe Italy often sets up archaeological sites as tourist destinations when they are found, so at least there is some economic benefit to it.
