This leads me to believe, even though it was widespread, there were probably just a dozen really active people doing it.
It's called arresting people. They probably stopped the 1% responsible for 99% of the break ins
I've heard it has gotten a lot better but when I lived there from like 2012 until 2016 it was excessively stabby, filthy(hep c on the sidewalks), and I saw more than one person publicly defecate(more than once on the bart too!).
I'm from Hawaii and people just don't crap on
Drones are now stationed on rooftops across San Francisco, ready to launch at the push of a button. Along with license plate readers, theyโve helped drive this scourge down. If cash bail were reinstated, the problem would likely disappear almost entirely.

A group of brazen robbers stole luxury purses worth $40,000 from a Gucci store in Livermore, police said. Officers later found the group in San Francisco with help from a drone.

A number of other items as well, such as recalling their George Soros funded district attorney. Electing more moderates, and implementing technique such as bait vehicles
Likely little to do with drones. SFPD just decided to start doing their jobs again in Sept 2023 and launched "bait cars" and quickly caught the handful of criminals committing all the break-ins.
From my convos with a senior member of SFPD the Flock cameras are a huge part of it. Flock data leads to where the drones can be released.
I think this has more to do with the wildcat police strike coming to and end. It's not a tech problem, anyone could catch bipers in an afternoon, cops just didn't have any interest in doing so. Presumably the new mayor was able to force them to do their jobs.
Weโve had our Priusโ catalytic converter (w/protective cover) stolen 3 times in the past 2 yrs while parked on a safe S.F. street, most recent June. Cost $3.8K to replace each time . Maybe the bad guys calculated the ROI and specialize in cat. Would be great if they catch them
It doesn't cost a lot of money to curb crime; it just requires the desire to do so
This is really interesting โ as is the fact that I see a bunch of articles about how SFPD illegally bypassed state regulations on acquiring drones and that lots of the funds come from a billionaire donor. Which Robocop movie was this?
Arrest, deport and/or incarcerate those responsible for crimes. SF can allow crime or reduce it. Itโs not complicated.
Whose drones? SFPD?
I ask because I've read of effective use of drone surveillance footage, to trace crime perps back to their homes.
oh look
results happen when you actually do your jobs... who would of known
Wow. Is this brought to you by Daniel Lurie, or did someone manage to wake up the police?
I got bipped in Mountain View, of all places, last May.
I donโt know if theyโre just branching out to the burns or if it was a freak incident.
The fact is has made it more difficult to report a crime and no longer responds to property theft crimes (even in progress)
Police + surveillance works, nothing new and China will tell you this is true.
>allow crime to occur en masse
>introduce solution
>it's drones
When the earthquake comes, it won't be soon enough for SF
