CA legislators looking to get housing approved quickly, please reintroduce my old bill AB 2323, which would have exempted infill housing from CEQA (died in the Leg). It had support from building industry AND major environmental groups, and was bipartisan. leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billText

Let’s be clear, there were definitely groups that had concerns about AB 2323. Any legislator interested in taking it on should sit down with them early & build consensus. There’s lots of options: a five year sunset, limit to LA, exempt largest projects, labor standards, etc.
Strongly agree. This is a common sense housing policy that should be supported by all.
Hats off to Heartland Homes Remodeling & Roofing and ABC Supply Co. Inc. in Columbia, MO. By installing our shingles containing upcycled rubber and plastic along with 3M™ Smog-Reducing Granules on this home in Missouri, they're contributing to a cleaner and greener planet - one

Agree. And from what I've seen from Berkeley*, we need to completely strip the lead agency of any involvement in granting exemptions.
Zoning compliant housing in fire safe areas must be fully immune from CEQA. No exemption decision by lead agency.

@California_HCD laying down the law on Berkeley.
"A lead agency must make a determination under CEQA for projects exempt from environmental review within 30 days of a project application being deemed complete."
Now, will they follow through and refuse to certify?

Also need to add a provision that makes groups that try to stop these projects via the courts pay for their nonsense.
Let's get rid of all of these crap bureacracies. Issue permits in days, or just let homes get built. The government does not know best.
Problem was it did t have support from the unions and they call the shots much more than those other groups.
this too

A massive rebuild is needed in #LA after devastating wildfires wiped entire neighborhoods off the map, and local architect #JohnCordic says the city can be reconstructed in a couple years ... as long as city officials get on board.

I’m testifying today before the Texas Senate Committee on Local Government on the need to address the housing affordability crisis by removing excessive zoning restrictions & putting property taxes on a path to elimination.
