"Evraz North America has continued to operate plants in Portland and Pueblo despite Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and sanctions imposed on Evraz Plc in the UK, where the parent company is incorporated.
There is no evidence in the documents or interviews
Also it was the Bush Admin that allowed Evraz to purchase the Oregon Steel plant in 2007. This plant was one of the few in the US that stepped up to supply the MRAP program, which was forced to use a lot of steel imported from allies.
They already lost it to AM General. The steel is coming from the same place regardless of who the prime is though.

Why are we building key components of military vehicles at a plant owned by the one nation in the world that has been a reliable and consistent enemy since the end of WWII?
Like what they do in Russia. Well Russia is that new template that America wants to copy so....
Why on earth would the US allow Russians to own a steel plant in the US?
Why am I just a little surprised that Russian companies are making war material for the USA?
Unclear if this is an example of classic Russian graft and corruption, or more advanced sabotage and espionage. Maybe both?
No wonder Russian tanks keep blowing up against drones. They produce flimsy armor.
The fact America had Russian companies making armor is classified as you had it coming.
Allowing Russia or China own a company in US for any defense contract work is beyond me. Whoever allowed such a thing should be investigated for treason.
How, they trusted Russians to produce their military hardware. Can it get any dumber than that?
This seems like a giant national security issue to let a fkn Russian owned company manufacture critical military hardware
Drop them all on a small Island in the Aleutian chain and forget about them.
Companies falsifying material certs is becoming way too common. And for industries with high consequences, mil specs and airline specs, you’d like to think the govt reconsider penalties both civil and criminal.
This is probably more likely a case of corporate greed, and not a deliberate act of sabotage.

Boy seeing as how there are more Evraz factories in Canada I sure hope you canucks are smart enough to look into the quality control of parts coming from factories in Calgary, Camrose, Edmonton, Red Deer, and Regina, Canada too.
Wow big story that one
Russian hybrid attacks on the security of US troops !!!!
America should not be having our military vehicles at a Russian steel plant !
Lots of sh-tbags skip tests. Was the armor proven to be compromised, or they skipped tests?
"a Russian-owned steel plant operator in the US, falsified quality control test results on some armored plating for the vehicle’s manufacturer"

there are people calling Trump crazy bc he posted that it is counter-intuitive to have a potential enemy provide you a vital need
People really are a special kind of stupid aren’t they? Why the hell would you have a country that is openly threatening to attack you involved in the manufacture of the equipment needed to defend against such an attack?
Having your military armour produced by a russian owned company...
Do I need to point out the issues with this...
Please America, at least try not to be so dumb and greedy!
Can’t remember who was the president or who the DefSec was at that time.
Might as well blame Obama and Biden.
This is completely ok for russia. And will be ok soon in America under Trump. LoL
I like how everyone will be surprised but the only difference between this, Japanese, American, Chinese and Indian forfeiting of materials testing is just a matter of culture and a function of time to disclose.
Folks have no idea what goes on in manufacturing. Who needs experts?
We should not be purchasing any parts for the U.S. Military from Russian companies. That is crazy.

Y’all having your military capabilities impacted by a hostile foreign power, but “Canadian dairy” is the problem. Lmfao.
What I don't get is that it's a Russian owed steel plant making armor for our military vehicles. This should have not happen in the first place. It should have been an American company making these armored plating... Not good.
What is this Plant doing in the US?
Why is it in Operation?
Why hasn't it been shut down?
Why haven't the owners been sanctioned?
Why haven't they been deported?
What the HELL is going on with your Defence Industries????!!!!
Why aren't ARRESTS being made?????
And trump wants to replace steel and aluminum imports from Canada by importing from russia instead.
What could go wrong ?

Russian owned company makes substandard armor plating for US military and export orders - the confidence in anything American made is taking a massive knock.
So the Russians are trying to get American soldiers killed. Wonder what MAGA have to say about this.
Our Russian pals building substandard armoring for our military? In the US? Wouldn’t this be called a scandal?
I know there's plenty to laugh about russia, especially as their economy, military, and demographics crumble. Their dysfunctional klepto/corrupt society barely functions--but they must also laugh at some of the US's policies and seeming indifference, like in this case.
Normal corrupt russian operation. Pocket the full price and deliver inferior products. Use some of the pocketed money to "divert" the attention of officials...

That's terrible, in more ways than one. And will likely not result in anything with the current admin.
if you have relationships with Russia. Everything will be corrupted
"The incidents took place at an Evraz facility in Oregon from 2017 to 2019..." guess under what President of the US that took place? Absolutely no coincidence!
If only the US had a reliable and friendly neighbor that could supply them with high quality steel, for less than the US can make it themselves...
Evraz, are you completely out of mind to involve russians in military production?
Unless that plant is filled with Russian citizens, I'd suggest USA has bigger problem than the owners. Already happened with Bradken with submarine steel not that long ago.
