polling shows voters strongly support using technology like speed cameras to make our streets safer. The debate isnโ€™t among the public. Itโ€™s in City Hall, where politicians keep resisting what their constituents want.
good local governance: we might soon be tripling our number of speed cameras (33 current +80) ... btw this is an area where I do support local control: for a technology that doesn't have compliance costs, CA shouldn't need to manually approve adoption
Of course a communist would delight in this dystopian vision: Our cities reduced to a panopticon where every movement, utterance, and impulse is recorded, judged, scored, and sorted. You are clearly no American. Real Americans cherish liberty. Surveillance is tyranny.
I don't believe this. 79% drop in law abiding citizens going 10 mph over the speed limit. It does nothing to deter criminals and just puts in a state of being constantly surveilled bv Big Brother. Terrible
โ€œPreventing 40,000 speeding incidentsโ€ lol โ€œincidentsโ€ meaning someone speeding causing no accident?? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ These have been in place for 7 months now so whereโ€™s the hard data of decrease in pedestrian traffic deaths YoY??? I wonder how much revenue these generate. $50 for
25mph is too slow for most places. The cameras are a speed trap, because few people drive that slow. I'd rather speed bumps be put in real 25mph zones, so you CAN'T drive faster.
But it hasn't saved lives. Just as many people have died on our streets so far this year - at least 16 - as on average since 2014 (15.75 deaths on average thru end on July). Why hasn't it worked?
The only people that should be monitored 24/7 is politicians If your entire life is monitored, crime will go down If you put this chip in your brain so we can monitor, there will be no crime
This is a flat out fucking false statement . DRIVING in San Francisco has decreased 79 % not fucking speeding. The fact that most people who actually live here use Waymo or Robotaxi IS that FACT. This is why people HATE you left wing idiots. You just make up data from the sky
This is another example of misinformation in action. When crimes, including speeding tickets, are not reported or properly entered into law enforcement databases, then the โ€œresultsโ€ are simply intended to propagandize perspectives.
