It's particularly "interesting" given that Platner's main opponent dropped out 40 days before the primary. If nothing else you might expect that to produce a relatively robust war chest/head start for the general election.

I still don't think we understand how Platner's campaign ended up out of money ... they were fundraising superstars and it's not like Maine is an expensive state to advertise in or the primary was particularly close.

Through May 20, Platner had spent $14m of the $16m he'd raised. That's a pretty high ratio given that Mills dropped out on April 30 and that Maine is a cheap state to advertise in. The largest recipient, at about $4m, is a DC-based firm called Helix Campaigns LLC.

For comparison among other prolific D fundraisers who face(d) competitive primaries, Talarico retained 25% of his fundraising as cash on hand as of his FEC filing on 3/31 and and El-Sayed retained 33%. Platner at 13% and his opponent dropped out.
In the current D world, campaigns exist to feed money to consultants. Electoral victory is just an occasional side effect used to get repeat business. That was also the previous R world. The notion that victory is more important than profit seems radically new over there, too.
So you didn’t know Chuck Schumer pulled Platner’s campaign fund days before news breaks. Ask DNC where is the money?

Whoa. Chuck Schumer started moving millions in ad money away from Platner just DAYS before Politico reported the rape allegation last week. Notable as the Platner team has accused the Schumer team of "coordinating" the rape accusations / stories. How long did they know?

The money dried up (and internal polls were tanking) after the prior allegations, but before the final allegations (it was reasonably well known that NYT was working on the story and was eventually going to have it)
Why do we pretend that any politicians are not just well polished crooks? The money went to places that he expects to get it back from later. Period. None of these people are good people.
My family is vacationing in Maine right now. We've been here a few days and drove up the coast to Acadia (going farther north later this week). Haven't seen a single Platner sign anywhere. From natl coverage, I was expecting to see his name around but nada.
I mean if you think about it, he was ahead or winning until ppl found out he was a rapist. He was holding his own prior to that, so going to assume it was his spending.
With all of the known crimes of act blue, how is it still able to operate?
True, an uncontested primary could give Platner a financial edge heading into November.
lol running out of money is job number one in the attention economy political game. wait til the field is half influencers.and rich scammers in 28 you're gonna learn things
