It took this administration *SEVEN MONTHS* to realize we can’t grow coffee & bananas in the United States

The same admin that thinks they will be able to build an entire rare earth supply chain from scratch in a couple of years
Question: - pre-tariff price was $8.99 for this 22.6oz container of Folgers Black Silk (what we use) - currently $15.99 at my local store So, is my coffee going: a) back to $8.99, or... b) down merely to $11.99 which means I'm paying $3 more but it *looks* like savings?

I'm starting to think the plan was to put tariffs in place to drive costs up, so that they could remove them and then lower prices just enough to be congratulated. I've never seen anyone pat themselves on the back for fixing their own messes as much.
I mean I'd be shocked but the UK had a several years long campaign to leave Europe that culminated in its leaders realising only then that "wait we have a land border with Ireland"
if only economies could specialize in what they have a competitive advantage in and then trade with others that have a competitive advantage in other goods and maybe use some sort of… credit system to facilitate that trade with low barriers to ensure fairness. Crazy talk tho
It depends on how much tariffs are reduced. They might have shot high in order to settle on a lower amount. This admin likes to take more of a Silicon Valley "first see if anything breaks" mentality. And in this case, prices increased more than consumers/voters wanted.
No, it took them 7 months to realize they can’t keep bullshitting people who actually go to the grocery store & do the shopping An activity that neither trump or Bessent has ever engaged in
Almost a year of daily Trump madness, and MAGA loyalists are finally realizing the truth: their savior’s just another conman. Took long enough. Too bad he’s still in power—apparently, karma’s stuck in traffic.
Now say that it's twice as costly to make sugar from beets in the U.S. as it does from cane everywhere else in the world.
You don't believe that right? They knew it was a horrible policy, they just did it so they can claim victory about taking the tariffs away. It's all bait and switch, like the rebate checks.
Coffee is grown in Hawaii. (I’ve taken a tour of the company while visiting.) Bananas are grown in the USA.
Only because the SC is going to make them so they are trying to spin the roll backs already. It's so obvious.
Hawaii would like a word, but the farms here can’t be scaled up to meet demand. I grow both in my backyard here. Of course, it doesn’t help that he has arrested and deported those who pick the coffee berries.

Teslas have the lowest maintenance & repair costs of any brand
Yes, that’s great messaging… fist we raise the prices artificially and unnecessarily THEN we sound the trumpets to announce the price reductions from those unnecessary highs back to …. The already high prices we dealt with 8 months ago! Kudos! Morons
Bessent says the most wild, blatant lies and nonsense in a totally affectless voice. Bizarre. I wish a journalist would ask him to talk about his years working for George Soros, and the antisemitic attacks on his former boss.
I thought most of it came out of Colombia and other parts of South America? Would make sense why we can't produce coffee here.
This is going to be another break it, fix what you broke, and sell the people that prices are dropping situation.
I just buy different coffee. Big Food Corporations have been gouging people. Take coffee, my brand went up $6 in a week and you tell me that's not price gouging. The tariffs are used as excuses for gouging.
You knuckleheads really don’t understand the real purpose of the tariffs. It was to put other countries on their heels, to knock them back. A shot across the bow that America is not to be fucked with.
Why does it take “SUBSTANTIAL announcement” of special actions to put to fix Trump’s fuck-ups? Is it because he fucks up literally everything? Yrs it is.
Most of them likely knew this but they realize that now their voters know it too so have to cave in and the grossly selfish callous rich have decided to tax a tiny bit less. The US administration has ZERO ethics and humanity; they are just selfish thieves stealing from the poor.
Stop bitching. They’ve had their hands full unscrewing the damage the Biden Admin did and solving 8 ongoing conflicts around the globe.
Scott Bessent is the epitome of how Tall white men fail upwards. He is a well educated moron. And yes, that’s a thing. I know tons of them.
Trump, Bessent and Musk are stealing all the tariff money! Musk got access to treasury thru Doge.
This Bessent is one smart cookie. They always say Biden had 9% inflation when it was really closer to 29% across every sector.
This is great! Since imposing tariffs doesn't raise prices for Americans (the foreigners pay them, right?), and removing the tariffs lowers prices, Trump can bring prices back to 2022 levels by repeatedly imposing and repealing tariffs! And he's clearly doing it!
Bessent believes Americans are like Bobo the clown...our head screw off and on. We know that Trump can't snap his fingers and the cost of coffee goes down. It make take months to undo this mess.
It was leverage for trade and drug trafficking negotiations. Most of us actually listened and understood that from the beginning. Short term pain for long term gain. Common sense for some of us.
Biden regime didn’t discover that in 4 years. Their plan was to tax American citizens more to fund their. Radical left policies, Ponzi schemes and fraud.
You Dumbass. Doesn't your pc have Google? - Bananas are grown in the US, with Hawaii & Florida being the largest producers. Smaller-scale and specialty banana farming also occurs in other Southern states like California, Texas, Louisiana, & Georgia, due to their warm climates.
