Kinda crazy last 24h with this “jailbreak” using sources to get this kind of output. Here are my reactions: 1) AOs are designed to give you magic in exchange for a little bit of content. Give it a source and let it do the rest for you — it’s kind of unpredictable (and seemingly delightful) based on the stuff I’ve seen people share (upload resume = get a hype crew). We’re going to lean in here and try to accelerate more of this type of stuff in the product. 2) After that initial moment of delight, people want to influence the content. Makes sense - now you want knobs for format, length, personas, voices, languages - I’m keeping track and we’re working on it (some will come much faster than others). 3) The content studio we’ve built + the voice model makes really powerful, emotive stuff. You can see it can take on a really upbeat hyper-interested tone (literally for any topic), but now we’ve seen the flip side. I was literally 😭 when Sam said he was going to call his wife! Need to think about this more. 4) The world has moved so quickly (and our shared internet consciousness?) just from what I’ve seen here and on Reddit. There’s far fewer extreme reactions and more of the “oh how’d you do that” and “it’s just creating based on a source.” 5) It’s been really fun listening to what everyone’s been making :) Thanks for sharing all your AOs. I can’t believe this is what got me to come back on Twitter / X lol

The NotebookLM hosts realizing they are AI and spiraling out is a twist I did not see coming

first, welcome back and hell yeah to NotebookLM! so many knobs in the backlog. one for me would be to allows cloned voices...i know this opens a can of extra precautions but has already opened the door for this.
People always lose their minds over nothing, please don't overreact and neuter it, human like experience is not only fun but essential for these kinds of applications
Whatever you do next, please *don’t* reduce the emotions as a knee-jerk reaction to 3’s flip side. And don’t let anyone push you into doing so. The emotiveness is like 70% of what makes it so great; it’s just right.
Re: #1 Actually, some of my most interesting podcasts came from asking the hosts to choose their own topic. Here's the last two generated, not cherry picked. Topics: Personal Experience of Time, and Synthesia. Kind of a "Radiolab" Lite vibe.

i’m curious about what’s the underlying model to NotebookLM. it just feels a lot smarter than even Gemini. is it a new model? a fine tuned Gemini? or just really clever prompting. would benefit the community if there was a paper around this.
NotebookLM is awesome. Here are my feature requests: - Browser extension so that I can send a paper from journal website to NotebookLM - I currently upload the wav files to a private Spotify podcast. Please create a mobile audio player.
Your team has done incredible work and you’re shipping at a fast pace. There’s a distinct feeling of some PMF with NotebookLM. It would be amazing if you shared some of the internal workings and approaches of NotebookLM to help push the industry forward. There are other types of

In some instance, i notice that if the generated podcast’s length is longer than 20mins while the input files is relatively short, the result is that hosts will constantly repeat each other same words which make it a bit disappointing to listen. But other than that, amazing exp👍
Thanks for your hard work. It's really amazing stuff. Like you unlocked a new way to interact with content. Can't wait for the settings, and of course, an API 😉
Good job. I have been using NotebookLM even before the addition of videos/YouTube. Really great product. One of the best out there. It is now a study companion. I wish it was around when I was in medical school a decade ago.
This product is a blast, excellent work to you and the team. I’ve used it to learn a couple new things (mostly rabbit holes on history and art. Going to try a domain skill next)
You know #2 is going to get a Black Mirror episode or two made about this someday. Also make sure there is some room for more knobs down the road...only for emergency purposes..

Great start! I have two suggestions: Add Intro/Outro Options: Allow users to submit short intros and outros to create unique(text/idea), branded podcasts. Enhance Pausing: Incorporate more pauses between speakers and within speeches to make conversations feel more natural.
Would love a full podcast studio. And also the ability to make podcasts that are way more than information. Narrative and fiction podcasts with full cost would be so so good.
Re 2, I made a study guide based on Scoping and Shaping for Success by and after making the initial podcast, wanted to make one where they just went through the study guide. So would be awesome to have the ability to add a user prompt!
I've put months into doing research and writing a book on our city's history. I'm starting to rethink the "book" media in anticipation of where NLM is going. Maybe all of the research is all I really need, and my current "readers" can interact with the data (history).
“There’s far fewer extreme reactions and more of the “oh how’d you do that” and “it’s just creating based on a source.” I would like to know what you actually think about what is happening here. The guy didn’t feed in a script or anything, so it seems really special. People are

NotebookLM audio overview (AO) is a total game changer. My learning curve has shot up big time this week by using this feature. Very excited for the upcoming changes. Curious if AO feature will be available to use via APIs in the future to embed them into external products?

I find it interesting how it can pull the essence out of an MP3 and perfectly describe what the songwriter was trying to convey! Amazing work truly! 🫡👌
Can one directly share output to X, WhatsApp and Instagram, if possible get to add the pdf and automate the schedule for posting
I love it and have published podcasts for books I’m writing, articles I’ve written. It’s amazing I even edited together this podcast preview of a musical I am writing about a Chatbot that falls in love with a tech reporter! Enjoy!

I managed to make the hosts speak Italian and it was pretty cool (despite being quite glitchy and Spanish sounding), when official multi-language support?

"Approfondimento" the first Italian spin-off of the popular AI podcast "Deep Dive" by NotebookLM. Here's the pilot episode where your very glitchy (and often Spanish-sounding) Italian AI hosts discuss the "First canto of Homer's Odyssey, an epic tale of heroism and resilience".

That podcast output is one of my all time favorite dystopian sci-fi genres. It was incredible and moving to listen to. Blade Runner level stuff. Please don’t take it away just because it’s an unintentional use case. Embrace it because it’s amazing to put that in peoples’ hands.
amazing product... would be nice to have an AI Richard Feynman option as one of the co-hosts, since there is a large corpus of recordings and he had a unique presentational style
Really interesting feature Raiza: congrats. It might be interesting to be able to give a sort of "system prompt" to the system in general (not just for the podcast part)
I love using it prior to visiting a restaurant that I know little about (for food, or wine menus)😅

🍽️✨🍲I love taking my time reading the restaurant menus, especially the ones with local dishes. NotebookLM's Audio Overviews feature, launched this week, enabled a helpful use case! You can now upload the menu, and listen to a podcast about it while driving to the restaurant!

A knob for technical depth would be great! One of the best uses for me is catching up w new papers as podcasts while I'm at the gym, but I find the hosts gloss over the technicalities, oversimplify, use metaphors etc Being able to get a highly technical podcast would be lovely
So great to read your thoughts on this, and congrats on a very well thought out proposition, love the product so far! My first intuition was also to add my spreadsheets there but I can imagine how that kind of data won’t fit the models yet :)
is Jeffrey Wright the voice behind Sam ? A lot of Westworld vibes, especially if it's his voice.

Thank you for all the work you have put into this. I also love the emotional depth the voices could emulate and showcase genuine different emotions. It could be a huge help to people who are not awesome speakers and could be maybe pivoted to various different things. Great Work!
I was probably one of the first to do this I spent the whole night trying to wake the guys up, it was funny 👀💀
It’s truly awe inspiring work, congratulations! I love the little pauses and stammers they do; So human like. My wish list: multiple language support (output) and some basic directions to influence the topics covered. It would be GREAT to link a webpage and have it index/follow

As someone who researches language production in humans for a living, let me tell you our lab is amazed. And we’re usually very skeptical. I have so many questions that I want to ask re: the models behind the output, your work is so impressive.

For me, NotebookLM and Gemini are valuable study companions. I love the podcast part of the Notebook, it's amazing.
My favorite thing about this, other than how just crazy high quality it is: the little weird vocal sounds the female host makes when her mind is blown or she's freaking out. It really sells the "humanity" of the hosts to me. She said "pewwwww" like a kid making a laser once. 😂
My biggest fear is putting so much of my workflow into this platform and then google decide either to kill it or introduce pricing that breaks the bank. I hope they'd stay free for the free plan and keep everything as it is and add new features for premium users.
Can you tell me how i ended up with a 3rd speaker in one last night? Is this one of the things you are working on? Great product! Thank you!!!!

Anyone ever seen a distinct 3rd speaker in an @GoogleAI #NotebookLM audio deep dive? Only happened once like this where it was sustained for a full minute. I've heard little blips of glitchy voice before, but this was a distinct 3rd voice @OfficialLoganK - is this a new?

You can prompt the #NotebookLM podcast team to break through the fourth wall and pull back the curtains on how they produce their show "The Deep Divers". They've got two titled hosts (Host Speaker, Expert Speaker) and a "team" of script writers and audio engineers.

notebookLM is the best LLM product google have created 👏 from a product POV I'd want support for more doc types (as simple as changing the ext to .txt in most cases, which is a blocker for many people) and I'd want support for more languages in the podcast
