I very much admire the spirit of it. But it devolved into a lot of vague messaging around "democracy", combined with notably few efforts to actually behave as though everything was on the line, or react at all proactively to the strategies Trump/Republicans had telegraphed.
Nate, please link me to the example of Democrats going high? Was it Obama weaponizing the IRS, or Biden saying Romney will re-enslave black people, or Biden attempting to jail his leading political rival Please show your work
It's astonishing that you believe that at any point since 2000 any Democrat has ever "gone high." Absolute ahistorical insanity. How can you possibly believe such nonsense?
Consider that Democrats have not been taking the high road in any sense of the word. Letting in >10M illegals under Biden and prosecuting Trump repeatedly using novel legal theories both come to mind.

You're a smart guy, I'd expect you to understand that "when they go low, we go high" is just something they say, not what they actually do. So what are we doing here, just playing pretend?
Well this isn’t a surprising take from someone who thinks the BBC is centrist and NPR is slightly left wing
No one from the democrat side did this… probably why it was a failure because ppl saw them as full of shit when they used it
They never “went high”. They compared John McCain to Nazis in 08. Called Mitt Romney a misogynist. Etc.
More mental gymnastics even pretending like this was ever a legitimate principle of the democrat party. They went lower than anyone in US history. Were they going high when they raided mar a lago ? How about the never been done before misdemeanors they managed to get trump for
always felt this distinction was a tone thing, versus an actual policy thing. That the Dems have academia, bureaucracies, and media to do their work for them, they can afford to claim the high ground because they use fancy words, and credentials, rather than dirty words. It's
JFC how much Kool Aid & gaslighting do you need to take to think Democrats went "high" this redistricting cycle. Democrats brutally gerrymandered everywhere they could & took a greater percentage of House seats vs their proportional vote total because of their gerrymandering.

This would make a lot of sense... in a world where the Democrats are always the good guys, Nate. But we've never lived in that world. Instead, it only registers with the exact people you'd think it would. The baseline itself is faulty.
Democrats have gone high? Listen, we can stage an intervention for you. Whatever you're on is seriously affecting your brain. Just ask for help.
Pretending that democrats in states like Massachusetts, Illinois, and California were going high in regards to gerrymandering shows an astonishing ignorance of the current state of things. Unless you're saying the Republicans were losing by going high, then I agree.
Yeah man. Trying to bankrupt the opposition presidential candidate and put him in jail for life is sure going high. You people are insane
Was cynically weaponizing the federal intelligence apparatus for partisan political purpose “high” or “low?”
Democrats just targeted us with the 5 or 6 worst scandals in US history, almost destroying Western civilization in the process. Nate Silver calls that the “high road.”
