Conversation
This seems like a pretty self-evident statement but i feel like it needs to be said out loud more, because I keep having conversations that end up being like this:
My radical version of this take which i also firmly and wholeheartedly believe is that we should also be welcoming of and supportive of candidates who can win not only those states, but also Kansas, Missouri, Indiana and... Mississippi. And Nebraska. etc
i just want to say that there is not a path to winning these states that begins with "we will win these voters over by more firmly and passionately stating our values, our primary values being those voters are wrong about everything they believe"
Correction:
If you want to build a coalition that attracts voters from vulnerable population groups, don’t build a coalition oriented around throwing them under the bus.
Fixed that for you.
your definition of throwing people under the bus is different from the swing voters who are part of those groups, which you can tell because Trump won so many of them
Dive into the critical issues shaping economic policy, from President-elect Trump’s sweeping tariff proposals to the challenges Texas faces under rising government spending.
Now is the time for bold reforms to protect taxpayers and ensure economic freedom thrives.
A corollary to this which may be equally important and more difficult: the Dem coalition probably needs to do more to actively repel the small, wildly unrepresentative, upper-middle-class Jacobin and Chapo fan demographic.
i'm fine welcoming them in (most don't want to come in) just don't act like it's a major crisis when they inevitably yell at you
The problem we have in KY is that the cities select certain types of candidates in the Democratic primary, but they don't have rural appeal, and the Republican majority crushes them in the general in November.
Pat- who do you throw away in this scenario? Whose rights and dignity are negotiable? Do they get a say?
Yep. And some of those people will be heterodox. Harry Reid was pro-life and also the Senate's top Democrat.
but the people on resetera, the pod save america subreddit are going to be so upset because they only accept candidates that have pronouns in the bio and "defund the police" also in the bio and a palestine flag
STAT takes a look at six Senators who will be poised for influence in health care when Republicans take power in early January.
Giving some extra delegates for party bosses to handout from their smoke filled backrooms would help the process along.
I don’t disagree. But they gotta be with the party on the major stuff. Doesn’t do any good to have the majority. If you have 4 Manchin’s and Sienema’s who cause more problems than they fix

Unfortunately there are several wings of the Democratic Party that are more interested in feeling righteous than winning.
Can’t wait for another round of “we can’t pass that bill because of just one senator, argh!” in 4-8 years
The 12 Democrats who make the most sense for 2028.
as a leftist from OK, that doesn’t mean being more socially conservative. it means being okay with simplier language. not explaining everything, no litigating policy, we don’t even need to use the PC words for everything. don’t talk down to voters, meet them where they’re at
To paraphrase Reagan, Democrats need to treat people (and candidates) who agree with 75% of the party's positions as 75% allies and not 25% enemies.
True but not this Alaska erasure.. a state much more predisposed for an independent candidate anyways
Maybe we (Ds) should run 2 presidential candidates. One in Obama 2012 states and one in the rest?
Everybody has disagreements. The question is what groups are you considering throwing under the bus for a senate win that you don't plan to do anything with.
Or we could end the 2-party system and let multiple parties represent their diverse constituents
You need to disavow the domestic terrorists that are threatening violence against innocent Tesla owners.
The democrats are finished. They never recover from this.
The moderate left needs to form a coalition with the center right and shun the progressives wholly if the left is ever going to have a voice again.
The problem is the moderate left and center right combo is basically
Loser mentality. If this is your plan then retire and let someone with a better plan take over
How many people need to live in an area before it is considered a major urban metro? Texas has four and Ohio has three if 2 million is your floor.
The 12 Democrats who make the most sense for 2028.
People feel "left out". The democratic party is supposed to be one of "inclusion", which hasn't been the case, recently. They failed dramatically, after Obama was elected, to include those uncomfortable. You can't tell people how they feel, you must "feel it".
