How better to get there than impose taxes (tariffs) and then have EVERYONE remove them?

Musk is aligned with Trump, who has said REPEATEDLY that his goal is FREE TRADE, and the very fact that he has implemented RECIPROCAL tariffs, by their nature, prove he wants tariffs to go lower or be eliminated.

This is absolutely bizarre. The new tariffs are explicitly aimed at eliminating trade deficits - which is 100% the opposite goal of having no tariffs. Elon went all in to elect a President who is diametrically opposed to the trade policy he wants?
LOL…my gawd. So after 3 days of absolute chaos Elon basically figured out that Tesla is going to get hit hard to and decided what we need is NAFTA but for EUROPE.
This would be a great outcome. Add Australia, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, etc to the mix, and include free movement of people, too. True American empire.

This is the end goal of the tarrifs, creating an incentive to lock out China, and make EU choose. Seems connected with the NATO spending increase.
I would have thought Russia becoming a Chinese proxy would be enough for them, but it wasn't, and Trump can't really play into that.
