My wife is EXTREMELY happy with this app, as she should be, because it’s a great resource, so she became a member for a year for $25, which is a great deal because it lets you watch the little helicopters and planes on the app dropping water….

…and now she’s watching the little helicopters on the screen fight the fires instead of, you know, asking me to do things. Just saying.
Also if there other nonprofit apps that will divert and entertain family members so I can glower and play Wartales in peace I will consider them.
iNaturalist and Merlin are pretty great. Not an app but Wikipedia
Lawrence O'Donnell thank you. Finally an acknowledgement that our Canadian aerial firefighters have been In California from the start.
Did you notice the publisher? "Sherwood Forestry Service, Inc." And they're a 501(c)(3).
Watch duty is great. Another site used by many of us in the firefighting community cameras.alertcalifornia.org?pos=37.2382_... These are cameras all over the state & you can watch the progress of a fire, including the little helicopters dropping water or the big airplanes dropping retardant.
Totally agree. Living in eastern WA state. Use it all summer, every summer.
downloaded, bought the membership. Watched helicopters for 5 minutes. Donated $100. I’ll be watching helicopters the rest of the night thank you very much
Watch Duty is jeeping me sane while my kiddo is at the edge of the evac zone
It’s great. I downloaded to check in on my friend’s homes.
This app was a lifeline for us during a fire this fall. They do great work. Glad you found it.
LOL, those tiny planes and helicopters are amazing! (This week, I also joined.)
lol the little helicopters and planes are so awesome! (I also joined this week.)
Also the air quality layer is super helpful, especially if like me you have an elderly relative and want to monitor whether to nag them about that.
Been donating $3 a month since the option became available. Maybe 5 years?
The subscription also allows you to track multiple counties. I have orange county down here, and then Teller County, CO to keep track of my parents.
I paid for the service simply because it’s such a good utility for wildfires. Didn’t need the added features but gotta support the good stuff.
I have the app but didn’t realize you could pay for advanced features. Thanks for the info.
I've used this app for years. I should join too, it's worth it.
I can remember many fires over the years struggling to get good info. It's remarkable how well watch duty has performed, game changer really
