1) they’re right. LLMs approximate reasoning through applied statistical semantics. They do not understand what words or tokens mean. There is no “reasoning,” just recursive self-prompting. 2) they’re going to partner with google and have something sooner than most analysts

This behaviour is something I have experience in reasoning models, specifically competitive coding questions where more the RM took to reason it messed up the logic compared to regular LLMs. Although I agree that the paper does not provide any breakthrough but still a good
