except when you live in san mateo county, where you're being asked to fund the tax but without representation on the board

You can vote for a different BART board if you live in a BART district. They are often competitive races!

honestly - none of those tradeoffs affect me meaningfully. but if I end up voting yes on this (still v undecided) it's for the benefit of the many harder working folks who rely on bart/caltrain as a necessity outside 9-5 just wish bart would actually try to be more sustainable
No public transit system in America is financially self-sustaining from farebox revenue alone. BART actually had the highest farebox recovery ratio of any system in North America before COVID WFH and ridership has been steadily climbing back since. It would be suicidal to do this
Trains, subways and busses only makes sense when you can fill them at least 25-30%. Not only does it cost more than a uber/robotaxi to operate and offer lower quality service but it actually uses more energy and thus worse for the environment. Mass transit should focus on the
good. here is a news flash, before they ask for more money cut all admin staff by at least 80% and then consolidate admin staff in one location so you have BART, caltrain, SFMTA, and every other transit grift admin staff in one location not over multi counties.

BART just set a new ridership record! We carried 254,248 trips yesterday. That’s our highest ridership day since the pandemic, a record we have been breaking again and again this year as more people want to take transit. Thread ⬇️

You should not have to win a popularity contest and have the support of your local politician to build new housing. Cities should have clear, simple, permissive rules about what you can build and by-right permitting for projects that follow those rules.

Crazy things are happening in the 20th Ward here in Chicago. This alderperson held community meetings AND a community vote about a proposed new development, the vote went in favor of the project, and then the alder...denied the project citing lack of community support.

All these environmentalist groups want is to be allowed to file endless bad faith lawsuits designed to delay every project for so long that developers give up and build nothing. Is that a crime?
you know us wonky technocrat types get a lot of flak for disagreeing with labor on things like Waymo, but nobody is giving any of the leftists flack for opposing data centers or permitting reform, which labor overwhelmingly backs…
