Yet Kamala ran as hard as she could to the middle. How could she have been more of a centrist than she was?
OK, now think about what it means that Bernie and Warren both UNDERPERFORMED Kamala Harris in their states.
Democratizing access to a decentralized system.
Welcome to Web3's first ever early stage market.

But polls show that voters support progressive policies on expanding access to healthcare, tax fairness, and raising the minimum wage. So it’s worth digging deeper.
and yet when people get to vote on policy progressive policy wins (unless there is a really high threshold like in Florida)
And yet if I show up to say something centrist I get beat on by progressive accounts who think it's silly to try and understand why centrists might not like what the left had to offer this time around ...

It was mostly a rejection of *social* progressivism, specifically.
I’ve very confused about how people are coming to any conclusion other than this one.

As a center rightist, I hope this is correct. I can live with a center left government, but progressives are a disaster.
It was a popularity contest. People like that dipshit. Extrapolating beyond that is a waste of time.
If 74m votes after unprecedented inflation is a defeat of centrism. What does a victory look like?
Haha, Utah! More evidence that Utah is actually a pretty moderate state with terrible political parties due to the caucas system.
The Utah Dem Nominee underperformed Kamala by 6.3% lol. And Curtis, the winner, wasnt the GOP convention pick--he beat some no name wing nut in the

…by a measly 1.1%. for reference, bernie won 63.3% of the vote.
Is this really the best proof of what you’re trying to claim? Seems like a huge stretch.
Harris ran the most dead center campaign imaginable lol. My grandma, who has voted red every election since Bill Clinton, voted for her. She went out of her way to pander to conservative/centrist voters. This wasn't about progressivism, she just ran a bad campaign.
I might add nuance here that it was a rejection of progressivism based on the belief that only Biden spending and immigration policy is what caused high prices. People generally like the progressive policies when especially when they are not attached to a candidate
About time, honestly. Well, about time to ditch this specific brand of "progressive" politics.
Here's hoping for a truly progressive era of infrastructure and housing abundance rather than just carefully worded land acknowledgements.
The best evidence for this is actually local elections and propositions in California.
I for one am happy that America is rejecting progressivism. Huge relief for me.
But the issue is that a lot of institutions hitched their cart to that horse and there aren't a lot of other options for them.
I don't like this logic because it's likely Republicans nominated significantly more centrist candidates in those states as well (haven't checked)
The most interesting thing in this graph are the two NE senate candidates running 10 points apart on the same ballot. So, every voter was the same, and considering the same issues.
Lots of potential takeaways, but two biggest for me: 1) opponents matter, 2) so does demographics

Funny, either side makes the opposite statement. Wonder why that is.
There needs to be a distinction between economic progressivism (which is popular) and social progressivism (which isn’t).
It wasnt a rejection of anything except the status quo. This election really tells us nothing about anything. We are still in the COVID reaction stage of history.
“Centrism” and “Progresivism” , like “Conservatiam”, are relative terms. what would you call centrism here? Liberalism-classic?

Yep but leftists are going to gaslight about how the election proves their priors
Harris getting 64.4% in Vermont vs Sanders getting 63.3% is a rejection of progressivism?
It was a rejection of measurable facts as opposed to felt vibes, with incumbents losing worldwide based on how horrible things are since COVID-19, despite things having stabilized and returned to prior levels on many metrics.
Not really. It was a rejection of Kamala and acceptance of Trump. Period.
Which, frankly, is long overdue. There is nothing truly progressive about illiberal "progressivism."
We gotta go back to running as centrists and then passing giant progressive bills like the ACA

Are you sure they are all centrists? Kaine was one of the 19 Senators to vote for conditioning arm sales to Israel. Sheldon Whitehouse attacks money in politics more effectively than Warren or Sanders in my opinion. Sherrod Brown has longer record of economic populism than

It was a rejection of democracy, which is more depressing. TFG said it would be the last time his voters would have to vote and tried to take over the government before that with violence means.
They want a fascist government.

In fact the only real factor in her campaign that might have gained some traction with voters (good or bad) was her selection of VP - who was the progressives’ preference- and it appears he did her no favors.
Shhhh. We can’t have progressives learning anything from this.
Let them continue to plunge off a cliff.
Maybe this narrative would work if it was at least double digits and not a rounding error level of difference
Gotta be honest, watching you guys come to grips with reality is really, really amusing.
And that's a good thing. Progressivism failed in the face of the fentanyl epidemic. Progressivism led to a noticeable uptick in petty crime. Progressivism was doing more harm to public education than Republicans ever did.
It was a rejection of both
Biden/kamala were open borders radicals, not “centrists”
Yes It WAS a rejection of "Wokeness:" rapidly changing the norms of polite society based on an emergent progressive consensus that does not reflect the preferences of normal people
Who were the "progressives" running for President Noah?
It was a wholesale rejection of Neoliberalism. People are so disgusted with "centrism" and "Neoliberalism" and they want change so badly that they voted for a crooked liar and insurrectionist to grenade it all.
Facts!

It was actually a rejection of incumbency and some voters didn’t see Kamala as the incumbent. You can look around to the world to see this was a global phenomena, not US-specific.
I mean I highly doubt either of them camlaigned
Is progressivism a monolith? Sanders and Warren performance in their home state is enough for you to draw this conclusion?
Wouldn’t a list of progressives who lost their races be a more persuasive way to make this argument?

It was a rejection of people of color. Everybody wants to make this more complicated than it is. If she’d been a white man, she would have won. This is both a racist and misogynistic country. It’s really that simple.
Do you genuinely think that a -1.1% difference is a “rejection” of progressivism? Really?
Buuuuuuuulllshiiiiit.
It was a massive far right-wing disinfo and propaganda media ecosystem, that cranked up even further the day Biden was inaugurated. When polled about actual progressive policy positions, the majority of voters favor them. They were just totally misinformed.
Progressivism of the identitarian variety certainly
Other forms of progressivism like class based and anti predatory capitalism based, well that still needs to be properly tried

I don't believe swing voters & low propensity voters vote on -isms, at all. Ideological identification is for the highly propagandized bases.
Elections are won on a mix of what seem to swing voters & low propensity voters to be concrete concerns & perceptions of personalities.
Just admit it. You are an old school Republican, otherwise known as a corporate Democrat.
This election was 100% a rejection of centrism, and as usual moderates are either to stubborn or too stupid to realize it.
It was not a total rejection of centrism, however, it was also a big proof that how dumb below average Americans are. Electoral college and political system was already bad in US. Unfortunately, current path in US would lead more and more decline unless serious changes happen.
Even IF that were the case (it wasn’t) centrism isn’t going to get us anywhere
Constantly giving into conservatives is a waste of time and if the options are Nazis or people who won’t stand up to Nazis, then what the fuck is the point in voting anymore?
Meta-narratives are tempting, but always, ALWAYS wrong. Angela Alsobrooks, for example, is not far left!
