Rich white folks in Manhattan being told they need to vote democratic to protect poor minority communities in queens & the bronx that are enthusiastically voting Trump is not a stable dynamic.

That’s clearly a map of the changes between the election, as Kings county overwhelmingly voted for Harris, just less so than they did for Biden. The only borough that voted for Trump is Staten Island.
Elon Musk is awarding $1 million randomly to registered voters in swing states who have signed the petition in support of the U.S. Constitution’s First and Second Amendments every day from now until the election.
Do you think cash incentives will influence voter participation?
I am as disillusioned as the next lib but that’s slightly disingenuous. Most of the deepest blue parts of the city, especially Manhattan, are Black neighborhoods. Look at central Harlem!
Affluent, college-educated Democrats- “I am voting to improve the material conditions of marginalized + underdeveloped communities”
Low propensity, minority Republicans- “This Trump guy is so funny lol”
Biden just gifted them thousands of dollars in debt relief. They probably were expecting Kamala to do the same.
I would argue that the rich manhattanites voted in Suffolk and Westchester counties, they use their second home avoid city income tax
Quite wild. I wouldn’t imagine many New Yorkers think their city has been improved under the latest administration. One wonders where the votes are coming from - native New Yorkers?
Notice how all the places near the toll bridges are red. Congestion pricing lol
Those BLUE voters in Manhattan really want that SALT deduction back. It makes me happy they'll have to wait at least 4 more years.
To be fair, the reddest areas on this map are also relatively white (or orthodox Jewish) compared to the city as a whole. For ex, the bright red in northeast Queens is Whitestone, and to a lesser extent College Point. Whitestone especially is pretty white
no one who understands the neighborhood and demographic distribution of new york city would come to your conclusion
The areas of Queens, Bronx, and Brooklyn voting Trump are hardly “poor minority communities,” though.
The movement to replace the Electoral College with a national popular vote will likely increase ballot harvesting nationwide. You can help preserve free and representative government today by watching this short video on the Electoral College, how it works, and why we need it.
fair point generally but i don't think the "Bronx" part of the map supports it. That's Throg's Neck and City Island area, which are not really "poor minority" neighborhoods. Queens and BK maps are doing way more for your argument.
Here's a map by race. I tried to roughly match your cropped area.
blue = white
yellow = Hispanic
green = black
red = Asian
brown = multiple/other
Seems like the re parts of your voting image are mostly blue (white) in the race map.

Interesting question for efficient markets types: What judgment does this imply? Perhaps the rich are smarter to deal with slightly higher taxes than pure populism combined with a literal declaration that no rule apply to them?
This is somewhat misleading. Solid majorities of these minority communities still voted Democratic. Much of the super red parts are due to ultra Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods and even some ethnic whites.
However broader point still holds water given trend lines.

Bet the Fox viewer ratings are higher in the red areas.
What a myopic view of New York City lol
The vast majority of red on this map is rich neighborhoods. One of the red neighborhoods in the Bronx is literally called "Country Club." It's lined with million dollar homes. It's 73% white and almost 50% Italian.
I feel like you have oversimplified where people actually live in these boroughs by A LOT

Need to look at demographics here too. South Brooklyn is heavily orthodox and militant on Israel (even though that community is dependent upon Democratic policies) and Queens has a very dense Asian population that fears migrants, rationally or not.
Sure, young white dudes broke for Trump. But Harris also underperformed with almost every kind of young person: young white women, young Black voters, and young Latinos.
Extremely curious what the "informed"/"uninformed" breakdown looks like. Bet it breaks down similarly to this map.
That southern part of brooklyn is mostly rich and white. And queens is way wealthier than the bronx.
Why the fuck is up with the concentration of Hitler particles in Williamsburg?
I really think federal sclerosis and inability to pass laws has scrambled voters already always tenuous ability to accurately attribute different outcomes to different parties.
Those red areas are not “poor minority communities.” This is the type of smug white liberal talk that drove working class and middle class blacks and Latinos to vote for Trump.
We mvst get the rich folx to vote for Trump too isn't that right?
Those manhattan neighborhoods leach all the tax money for themselves and then try to scare everyone else into supporting them
Who created the coloring scheme? Those pink sections of the map are from Trump+5 to Harris+13
Basically every economist has said Trump would crash the economy, so it's really a case of the rich whites voting for their own interests while poor minorities got hoodwinked by a populist
I live in Bensonhurst in Brooklyn. These are not poor minority communities. These are upper middle class and middle class russophone, jewish, and east asian communities
I can’t speak for Queens and the Bronx, but the majority Trump districts in Brooklyn are predominantly white and Hispanic. The darker red districts are neighborhoods with high Orthodox and Hasidic Jewish populations. And the areas by ocean are Russian and Italian.
Wealthy, educated people are increasingly voting Dem. It's what makes the most sense. Protecting vulnerable people is just one aspect of it, and not the driver.

The Trump areas in the Bronx are not poor. A lot of cops for example. Even richer are the bright red Queens areas. The Brooklyn red areas are mostly orthodox Jews. Hope this helps.
You don’t know anything about the Bronx if you did you’d know that area in red is where white conservatives live.
