“We request an immediate update about the access of USAID’s headquarters," Senate Foreign Relations Dems write, "including whether the individuals who accessed the headquarters were authorized to be there and by whom," whether they had any security clearances, what info they got hold of
They also point out USAID was established by Congress "as an independent agency, separate from the Department of State, to ensure that we can deploy development expertise and U.S. foreign assistance quickly, particularly in times of crisis, to meet our national security goals."
Trump returned tonight to DC. Out at Andrews, answering questions, he said of USAID, "It's been run by a bunch of radical lunatics, and we're getting them out. USAID, run by radical lunatics, and we're getting them out, and then we'll make a decision."
Trump on Musk, tonight: "I think Elon is doing a good job. He's a big cost-cutter. Sometimes we won't agree with it and we'll not go where he wants to go. But I think he's doing a great job. He's a smart guy. Very smart. And he's very much into cutting the budget of our federal budget."
