Yeah but how many college students in the US have no business being there?
My estimation of a German degree just went up, not down.
Germany provides free higher education, but it comes with tracking kids into academic vs. non-academic tracks (i.e., rationing).
I went to public school in West Texas. The overwhelming majority of my friends all went to college. None of them were wealthy. I do not know where this theory comes from - do they think Ivies are the only schools?
Doesn't Germany score higher in international rankings than US in math and science?

A very common bit of continental Eurosnobbery is an ironclad evidence-proof belief that their education system is better than the US. The US has higher PISA scores than almost every European country outside the Nordics, including France and Germany!
