There was one singular person the Trump team wanted to kill. They thought they tracked him to his girlfriend’s place, presumably in a civilian apartment building in Sana’a. So they dropped bombs on the neighborhood and leveled the building. Reactions from the group: “amazing job” “Excellent” “👊🇺🇸💥”

Correction: 🔥 not 💥 Regret the error.
Targeting an individual for assassination at a building known to be his romantic partner’s residence by collapsing the whole structure seems to me to fall squarely within the Geneva Convention’s prohibition on targeting civilian objects, and probably other defined war crimes as well
It tells us something about The Atlantic that they refrained from mentioning this deliberate destruction of a residential building in their first story.
The Atlantic withheld the details out of concern that it would be revealing classified information.
Even now, when authorities have stated on the congressional record that none of the information in the chat was classified, Goldberg is still withholding details that could be damaging to US intelligence, because he's the only one involved in that chat with any judgement.
So they killed 50 people to get one guy? And they think they're good at this?
They frankly don’t think of civilians in general, much less other countries, as individuals worthy of consideration and protection. So yeah they think they’re good at this because they hit their main target without any US military loss of life.
& that right there is the 180 degree turn I felt after 9/11. At first, we were so patriotic & cohesive. Then we started invading countries with false Intel, & Citizens United, the Patriot Act, & I felt like we'd fallen off a cliff. We won Cold War through the good things about us, not destruction
Much of the thread was bitching that Biden was too soft, and then they go out and straight-up commit war crimes. I guess Biden wasn’t genocidal enough for them…
Looks like the “genocide Joe” nickname, which Trump coined, was just another example of Trump deflecting
Not Donald the Dove? Go figure. Fuck the forever.
Chilling. Absolutely chilling. And now we know how callously the top of our government reacts to collateral damage. We are the baddies.
So proud of themselves, like the middle school ball team. No sense of the moral gravity of what they did.
Armchair video game players in one room high-fiving ... Torn and mangled bloody bodies across the ocean. These are emotionally stunted, malformed humans …
Donald the Dove! Give him the Nobel Peace Prize!
This is why they wanted to remove lawyers from the approval chain, so they could do this with impunity
They killed 53 innocent people in Yemen for this. bsky.app/profile/nycs...

My D&D group handles a raid on a cave full of orc bandits with more gravity and concern for civilian life.
Congressman Jared Moskowitz delivers remarks during a markup of the House Judiciary Committee in which he marks the Signal chat controversy involving members of Trump's national security team. youtu.be/ModcAfwJI2E?...
I suspect the YouTube description was a transcription of someone dictating with a Boston accent, as “mocks” might have been erroneously corrected to “marks”. 🤔
JD Vance: "I will say a prayer for victory." What kind of God would answer prayers to kill other human beings?
JD is such a good Catholic. So very Jesus-like.
This administration is doing everything they can to groom the next generation of 9/11 terrorists and destroy any defenses we have to prevent another attack on US soil.
So, we've been striking at the Houthi's for a while now and while I'm happy to point out the BS of this administration at every turn I'd be shocked if this didn't also happen under Biden and Obama. Probably didn't have a circle-jerk session on signal afterwards though
Yes it’s a given that the US doesn’t have clean hands, but as you note, these chuds are taking it to a new level.
Here is "why use Signal", rather than government far more secure but archived apps - civilian deaths. They decided to kill a bunch of non combatants to get one guy. One of the main reasons these people hate us in the first place, we kill indiscriminately.
Man, remember the old days when if they wanted to kill one guy they'd use a couple of CIA assassins instead of blowing up an entire goddamn city block? You'd think this op was being run by Philly police in 1985 or something.
i remember that under Obama we developed a bunch of non-explosive missiles like the hellfire R9X designed to take out specific targets with guided strikes without causing collateral damage.
“Great war crimes, everybody! Let’s meet for apps and cosmos!”
Lmao and the fact that Tulsi the peace loving Assadist was there chillin in the group chat the whole time is the icing on the cake.
Surgical strike, if surgeons used chainsaws with flamethrowers attached.
BuT tHeY hAtE uS fOr OuR fReEdOmS ( to bomb the shit out of their civilians)
I would expect nothing less from these depraved people, a reflection of a depraved society that voted for Trump and would also cheer for this kind of thing.
War crimes aside I feel like we've been trying this "Cut off the head and the snake dies" tactic for the entirety of the GWOT and it's never consistently worked.
Hegseth is terminating Civilian Harm and Response office and Civilian Protection Center of Excellence so knocking down an apartment building tracks 😡
War crimes being confessed and reported for the world to see. Here's hope the trials will go a bit quicker thanks to this.
53 dead civilians, to which the VP of the United States responds “Excellent!” 😳
This is frighteningly similar to Israel's approach in Gaza: www.972mag.com/lavender-ai-...
In an unprecedented move, according to two of the sources, the army also decided during the first weeks of the war that, for every junior Hamas operative that Lavender marked, it was permissible to kill up to 15 or 20 civilians; in the past, the military did not authorize any "collateral damage" during assassinations of low-ranking militants. The sources added that, in the event that the target was a senior Hamas official with the rank of battalion or brigade commander, the army on several occasions authorized the killing of more than 100 civilians in the assassination of a single commander.
