call me crazy but maybe a year is enough time to say it's a coincidence instead of your head cannon where he festered his hatred every day in the tallest room of the tallest evil tour of his making sure they'd rue the day they took his piano from him
It really is insane just how many of his policies are motivated by some grudge he held for 30 years. It's like Larry David using Seinfeld bits in Curb Your Enthusiasm but less funny.
He's so damn petty. Every factoid like this just reconfirms that almost every stance he takes is out of some past grievance.
Wait, is this the same CASABLANCA piano thatโ€™s now in the Academy Museum here in LA.? Itโ€™s not even in some guyโ€™s personal collection and heโ€™s still this mad about it lol
It is to be said that Japan in the 80s was considered a significant threat and that there was a Nippophobia that is not dissimilar to the Sinophobia felt by America today. The US will see anyone who experiences success big enough to become independent as an enemy to bring down.
Why is everything a fucking Citizen Kane reference whatโ€™s next he gets a loud fucking bird in the Oval Office?
So what youโ€™re saying is we can draw a straight line from Sam singing โ€œAs Time Goes Byโ€ in Rickโ€™s Cafe to the second Great Depression?
His beef with Japan goes even further:

This has been his thing for decades! Nobody has ever successfully explained international trade and the benefits of running a deficit to him, he just thinks โ€œitโ€™s a bad dealโ€, and now heโ€™s gonna crash the entire American economy because of it. Itโ€™s so goddamn funny.
You know what? I can't blame him. Imagine bidding for an item you really want and some asshole swoops it.
That piano was Trump's Rosebud that sent him to the White House to destroy Zthd economy.
