“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?” Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century. politico.com/news/magazine/

It's not just Medicare and Social Security. Seniors have rigged all of America, at all levels of government, to benefit them at the expense of younger people.
Yes, we need entitlement reform but we also need public sector union reform. So across that domain, I understand his point. We all want well run local government. But at what point is it fair to call out that OT is being abused so public sector employees can make $300K a year
Property taxes are retarded despite what antiboomerism may lead you to believe. Same earned income getting taxed a dozen different times is criminal.
Eternal reminder: the median property tax in the US comes out to ~$260/month That's what these retirees with paid off homes are complaining about as they take in ~$1600/month in social security
If the younger generations are the ones providing all the labor to this system then ultimately it is their decision as to whether or not it continues.
He’s right. You are simply an idiot and an enemy if you’re fixated on white conservative boomer homeowners.

Boomers are happy to cheer on endless wars in the name of defending Israel while expecting working-age Americans to shoulder the tax burden at home. They get to support foreign intervention and preserve the benefits they enjoy, while younger generations are left footing the bill,
Once you own a house you should not have to rent it from the government. In America we own property in fee simple, a unique system of property ownership. Property tax is inconsistent with this. We just need to build more houses
There should be no property tax on your primary residence that is paid off. It is ridiculous that people have normalized this.
Isn’t the point of SS and Medicare specifically for those ages? The people in green were once the people in orange. Not sure what the point of this is except to rile up Gen Z.
Not only entitled, but seemingly too stupid to understand that his taxes were folded into his monthly mortgage payment, and satisfying the mortgage doesn't make the taxes go away.
The politics of envy in action. You envy people who got lucky, and want to bring them down. The government laps this shiza up while it spends trillions on pointless wars, fraud for votes, high schools with facilities like colleges, CIA black budgets, crazy interest payments on
Russ loves to hate the victims of corrupt politicians with a spending addiction.

It's cute that you think the people in the green weren't the people in the orange for 45 years first. You think we just got dropped on this planet at 63yo?
Quite funny how politically left/green people are always about how capitalism might eventually fail because of its never ending demand for growth. Meanwhile, social security schemes were created knowingly, that they will fail, when it demand for young people runs dry.
