This is very likely Trump's most consequentially bad decision. RFK Jr. is cancelling cancer vaccine research and all mRNA vaccine research. And his decisions are all based on quack science. There were qualified conservative scientists for this post, and Trump picked a meme.

Trump almost certainly did it because he made a deal to get the RFK votes (MAHA)? My prediction from around April was RFK would go too far (he cannot restrain himself on vaccines) and be out by the end of the year. May still happen.

I got the jab and I still got Covid. We were taught in school 30 years ago that there is no vaccine for coronavirus. That’s still true today. If you want to call it a therapeutic, I think that’s acceptable.

That statement is materially false. He's cancelling government contracts for mRNA vaccine research. Universities and the Private Sector are free to do the research on their nickel and they have billions to do it.
