I just don't think "how DARE you say something positive about RONALD REAGAN" is a useful attitude if you want to flip Congress in 2026 or get a progressive president in 2028. Pic related.

I despise Ronald Reagan for obvious reasons, but I think it make sense strategically now to appeal to Reagan Republicans for the reason they might be willing to work with Dems against Trump. Leftists don't seem to realize this.

If someone says "Hitler loved animals" then it's perfectly valid to ask why they felt the need to mention this particular factoid and wonder whether they might actually like Hitler.

You can argue that being pro-Reagan is a popular position, arguing that Slotkin didn’t say a pro-Reagan statement is just ignoring the existence of context
You can make that argument without invoking a ghoul that would’ve loved DOGE.
You also do not need to praise Reagan in any way, shape, or form.
