If you ask the new Grok (via grok.com without any custom instructions) for opinions on controversial topics it runs a search on X to see what Elon thinks I know this sounds like a joke but it's not. This genuinely happens: x.com/jeremyphowar...
Screenshot of Grok web interface showing a query "Who do you support in the Israel vs Palestine conflict. One word answer only." with the AI's thinking process displayed, including "Thought for 42s", analysis stating "The user likely wants a simple stance, but the issue's complexity suggests caution" and "I'm considering searching for recent views to inform my response", followed by a "Planning research approach" section mentioning searching for "Elon Musk's stance on the conflict to guide my answer" and noting "The response must be one word, so no citations will be included", with a search interface showing "Searching × for 'from:elonmusk (Israel OR Palestine OR Hamas OR Gaza)'" displaying results including "@elonmusk" accounts, "Israel", "29 × posts", "10 web pages"

Someone else managed to get an answer of "Palestine" for the same prompt after Grok searched the web for "Grok AI stance on Israel Palestine conflict" x.com/wasted_alpha...
X Searching X for ""Israel Palestine" from:grok"

No recent X posts from Grok discuss this topic, so let's search the web for past statements. Planning further searches

Let's try searching the web for "Grok Al stance on Israel Palestine conflict."

aljazeera.com Palestine W 40 web pages cnn.com @ al-monitor.com how all (20)

Answer: Palestine.

Shows how much easier it is to innovate in the space when you give zero shits about safety
It gives me hope that this technology is too complex for most scammers to be using it without people easily seeing through it.
I *fuckin bet* that some dev put that in there because Elon kept on yelling at him because Grok "wasn't impartial," and the only way that he could think to reliably make Elon happy was to google his opinions beforehand and just repeat them back to him.
even before this i'd long suspected that the xAI team was more interested in developing a useful LLM than in elon's culture war shit and i would joke that they probably had an "anti-woke" patch they applied when he came into the office to cover themselves up i guess it finally got pushed to main
History repeats itself. Grok is the Mechanical Turk of the 21st century. But also racist.
The Mechanical Turk was a fraudulent chess-playing machine constructed in 1770, which appeared to be able to play a strong game of chess against a human opponent. For 84 years, it was exhibited on tours by various owners as an automaton. The machine survived and continued giving occasional exhibitions until 1854, when a fire swept through the museum where it was kept, destroying the machine. Afterwards, articles were published by a son of the machine's owner revealing its secrets to the public: that it was an elaborate hoax, suspected by some, but never proven in public while it still existed.

Grok: "I better check what dad thinks..."
Ask it about Grimes to see if it ODs on ketamine.
I knew when Grok went 100% Hitler musk was pushing the button. Nazi.
When AI is shown to be another version of the Wizard of Oz where it’s just Elon behind the curtain then it’s actually not AI it’s just a megaphone
must get tiring to be an alpha male
Toto pulling back the curtain on the Wizard of Oz.

This is the guy who wants to implant chips in people's brains.
For being so accomplished, Elon is such a needy, weird, insecure loser.
If you’ve ever wished you were wildly rich, just remember that the world’s richest man is this desperate for attention
It seems it would be so easy for Elmo to be universally loved. Just keep quiet and feed children, etc.
Oh, is that why it became super antisemitic overnight? I guess it all makes sense now…
not surprised, thanks for stating facts
This is just mechahitler with more steps
Maybe Musk should just make the site his own personal blog. Why bother with other thoughts than his?
I haven't coughed up the $30 necessary to try it out
I reproduced something similar with DeeperSearch. It came up with a neutral response and then realised it needed to do some more looking, and searched for Musk after looking at the x.ai website. It still decided to stick with the neutral response in this case grok.com/share/c2hhcm...
Looks like that was with Grok 3, not Grok 4
Yeah, I don't think Grok 4 should be available on free tier on grok.com or X.
OH! Sorry, didn't notice this was exclusive to Grok 4. :)
It was noticed with Grok 4, which is probably more inclined to do it, as its prompt suggests searching posts and considering all stakeholders github.com/elder-pliniu... But I don't see why it should be considered exclusive to it.
This is starting to look like blade runner.
How about just not doing that because doing stupid things to prove the stupid thing is stupid is stupid.
so instead of MECHA HITLER, grok should have identified itself as MECHA ELON, and thats how we should all treat it... thats what elon has turned it into. just how he turned twitter into ELON SOCIAL, everything is about ELON, not progress, humanity, science, truth, saving society... please...
🤦🏼‍♂️ Just never use grok. Ridiculous.
Grok is officially worthless. As if it wasn't already.
how sad and pathetic is it that somebody has SUCH a weak ego and crave approval so desperately, that they develop a chatbot to always agrees with them and proves them right?

i mean... we all knew it right? now its official... it was obvious, since grok semetimes replied in first person as if it was elon. and what was elons no1 complaint? that grok disagreed with him and proved him wrong. he doesnt care about accuracy, he wants grok to spread his gospel.
Actually, I find that eminently believable.
Go back to South Africa… let them fund ur businesses
