I bet those take an incredible amount of time to load and leave a crowded area. The Uber big venue hack is to walk way tf away then get an uber out yonder
what a waste of space and resources

this is less than a quarter of a bus worth of people. one of them is blocking the bike lane too. cars are mostly just good at taking up space
picture of 13 Waymos in a line, one blocking a bike lane. tweeted by @brianwilt, captioned: "Charli XCX post concert pickups, SF, October 20, 2024"
If only there was something like a bunch of cars chained together, maybe even on tracks…
is there a special mode to front load passengers in this situation or is there enough of a gap for them to pull out to the right after loading?
Saw from your pinned tweet you play piano. In honor of this photo can you post yourself playing the piano melody from "mean girls" by Charli? Its really good

Because Google is in deep shit when it comes to AI. Google invented the breakthrough transformer model for LLMs then had to play catchup after they did nothing with it. Then Bard/Gemini was trained to lie and give woke answers such as favoring thermonuclear war over

And to think, when the initials display started rolling out in 2020 I thought it was going to be silly and unnecessary Way to go 👏👏👏
great reminder that self driving cars will never solve the problems that we need real public transit for
I'd be really curious about average throughput of passengers in that scenario vs one in which you had a bunch of human driven vehicles.
muni still runs at 9pm. and i think if you have a chase center concert ticket, you get on muni for free. (transportation demand strategy that doesn't seem to work for this crowd)
Once again here to remind everyone about efficiency, moving thousands out of an area where people barely live, and the ghost of Roracle still cackles in Bart.

Do Waymos go to pickup hotspots like airports and events if they don't have a booking, or would these have all been booked?
cool! suggestion: plz give each waymo a personality. hook up an llm like character AI so that each rider can have a personal/personable driver. 🙏 that'd be so dope and be super popular I'd predict

Yeah not sure I know what you mean but we do limit the places where we stop for large events + venues to be out of the way. is the expert here
Lot of space for very low efficiency. This whole line capacity is less than a single metro or bus. And wil prob create a traffic jam. And stop on the pedestrian crossing. so bad
This is why you need transit, low density vehicle traffic is like single family houses. It’s dumb and unsustainable.
The sad thing is that you think this is great. Vast amounts of disruption and resources for what? 1 or 2 passengers per car. If you were smart you would come up with something smart like vehicles that could carry 10+ people going to known destinations to a schedule. #TechnoFail

Wow. 🤯 People have no idea how big of a deal this is. The US just won. Everything.
