Yup, Canadian firms often find it easier to trade with people in the U.S. than with Canadians in other provinces. Crazy, eh?

Well at least all the provinces are enormous markets with several major cities and extensive internal specialization.
Damn, Canada basically got stuck with the equivalent to the Articles of Confederation

One of the best things in the US constitutions is interstate free trade. This is something Canada doesn't have!
Having different import duties coming back from a trip in the US depending on what province you're going into is insanity.
Even without the inter-provincial taxes, as a Canadian entrepreneur I find it easier to market my services to the US because the mareket here is a bunch of cartels and big corporations, often controlled by the 3-8 same big families.

This is a rare commerce clause win and is largely invisible for most people. It doesn't justify the dumb commerce clause interpretations. But it's better than nothing.
