I suspect there were two reasons, put together, I’m sure there was a farmer who complained of carrots being eaten by rabbits and not having a good crop, but the person whom it was told to didn’t realize that the farmer meant the ate the leafy green top of the carrot not allowing

What's just as important a question is that if carrots are known as fattening, as they contain a lot of natural sugar, then why is Bugs Bunny often pictured so slim and svelte?

My rabbit loves her hay and romaine lettuce. But she loves her carrots and blueberries too! We just limit them to treats and bribery bc of the sugar content.

My rabbit used to flip all of her leafy greens out of her bowl to dig to the bottom to get at her carrot first, she loved them!
Also, Mel Blanc, the voice actor for bugs bunny, HATED carrots, and tried to use celery to get the same effect. But it didn't sound right, so he had to crunch carrots them spit them out. TMYK
They LOVE bananas and apricots. But they would turn into little crack fiends for wheat grass. I got my gf some rabbits and we learned pretty quick what they liked and didn’t like. We’d buy them a bunch of rabbit specific treats. But the wheat grass acted like catnip.
Ha! I’ve seen a ton of rabbits outside lately and I threw a few carrots out for them. Two days later they were untouched and now I know why! 
Rabbits that eat only carrots die. Carotene isn't good for you kids! (unless you literally like cancer)

You probably heard that eating carrots is good for your night vision. It’s not. That was propaganda spread by the British in WW2 to explain why their night bombing was more accurate…it was actually radar
Rabbits doesn't eat carrots, rats doesn't eat cheese, cats doesn't drink milk, and dogs doesn't eat big bones. What the fuck did they were thinking?
