The house on the right was demolished last year to build a 3,500 sf mansion + ADU The house on the left just filed plans to be replaced with five starter homes under SB 1123 CA state housing laws are delivering results.

Biggest issue as this densification jumps off will be car parking. Hoping AVs and decent transit provide low-parking-needs transportation. And really, for the love of God, can a fairly dense metro with best weather and worst traffic congestion get some bike paths!
You can tear down a structure that is "vacant and uninhabitable." It's fairly easy to make a house uninhabitable.
The lot can have "abandoned and uninhabitable" structures on it. It's fairly easy to make a house uninhabitable.

It's triple the size of the home it's replacing, and double the average single-family home size in LA. We can quibble about whether it's technically a "mansion," but it's clearly an expensive, luxurious home.
For my town, someone posted a proposal to replace a single family house with 20x singles, near transit, w/no extra parking, and reddit was 9/10 in favor. Unbelievable. I have to grant +1 to reddit, to maintain my honor
How much $ does this make for the current homeowner/landowner. Seems like this will increase the price they could sell their house/land for while also decreasing the price of new homes in the area. Win win.
interesting, sold right off the MLS at $1.340 - wonder that the sale price target is. I would be bummed if I was building the 3500 sq foot house
Five starter homes? I know the people living next door to it aren't going to be too crazy about that. Asking for a friend. How much will one of the five starter homes jammed onto a single lot be going for?
And completely destroying neighborhoods with crime and filth... that will be the next crip neighborhood. Liberalism, 100% of the time creates the exact opposite of what it intended.. it's the very definition of insanity.

The one on the right looks like a perfect starter home right now…. Replacement with high density makes no sense. Deport illegals, so many problems go away……
