Very excited for Bay Area voters to seppuku the state next year by causing BART to cut 70% of service by July and for Jane Kim to crash the state insurance market if she wins insurance commissioner vs. Ben Allen and then insurers cancel everyone and then no new construction can get financed and nobody can transact anything.

If this came with “fire and replace the BART board” I’d be happy to vote for it. (As it stands I will probably grumpily vote for it, I just wish I could do so in good conscience rather than burning taxpayer dollars.)
Respectfully, blaming voters for 's mismanagement, incompetency, and straight up graft is a bad take. Like blaming an abuse victim for the abusers' actions.
In a world with waymo there's no place for BART. Driverless vehicles are going to be cheaper, safer, and faster. I.e. better in every way.
I feel like the better metaphor is that BART already committed seppuku, and now we're figuring out how to clean it up. Half the ridership already left, is it the end of the world to lose the other half?
Any win by a NO vote or loss will be by a small margin. Small margins are divisive. Work on important things that are sensible to a true majority. RTM creates more bureaucracy, no actual accountability and paves the way for real long term suffering. The sky is not falling.
Honestly maybe it just needs to get really horrible before it can get better.
BART should quit being so shitty and maybe we would be willing to pay more. As it is we’re already overpaying for a bunch of crappy trains with overpaid drivers and station workers
I used the service every weekday for 5 years but I think it is time to call their bluff. They should have gotten leaner and more efficient after covid but they simply didn’t.
why doesn't bart just automate itself to be 2x more efficient instead of throwing money away. the wages and staffing per passenger mile is some of the worst in the entire globe.
i don't trust management. And some times we need to adult-up and stop giving hard earned money for shitty outcomes. Plus bart sucks, i lose hearing going to under the bay, and i don't want to deal with crime. California government needs a big reset.
BART leadership can’t be trusted. They’re holding the entire Bay Area hostage, threatening to shut down if they can’t extort us for more tax dollars. We’re not falling for it again.
What a shame this idea is. I was just out there from DC, it was so easy to get from the Berkeley area to a Bart station and in & out of downtown SF. No way I'm driving in that nightmare to get into the city.
Bay area politics is often a degrowth death cult. Bart is way overkill for the pathetic density it services. Youd think “wow thats great. We built something that will last as we grow” but no, everyone is obsessed with locking everything in with amber
It’s honestly incredible that she was even able to make it to the general ballot. There should be a requirement that the insurance commissioner is licensed to sell insurance, or has X years of industry experience. This is like a person who isn’t a licensed attorney running for
BART's not going to cut anything, least of all its overpaid bureaucratic bloat. Gavin and the other DNC power brokers will just move some numbers around in the slush fund, bail it out, and figure out a feel good bond measure to put on the next ballot to pay for it
I can’t tell if this is sarcasm or sincere, but yes, please can we let this happen? 23 years of this city/region being run by feral adult children with absolutely unattainable ideologies….PLEEEAASE let things start to fail so we have no choice but to abandon their agenda?
