Not a single incumbent party has been reelected around the world this year? God that’s insane, Harris really never had a chance
some have been re-elected, but they all lost vote share compared to the previous election
We thought that, since America had the best post-pandemic recovery, the incumbent party would be rewarded for that. And we were right, relatively speaking. The baseline was just too low.

if we just had this level of performance in the biden 2020 year we would've had a larger senate cushion going into this disasterclass of a race
I think that’s mostly because of how utterly polarized the US electorate is (and bc of what a weak candidate Trump is, despite his win)
Doomed from the start, a good sign that there isn't a massive fundamental right wing shift in the country and that its just the inflation
Makes me wonder if we could have won if Biden hadn't run and we'd had a primary and ultimately picked someone from outside the administration who could distance themselves. Wasn't an option in July obviously.
I think this isn't a fair comparison, since this is mixing up parliamentary systems with our two party system.

59% of Americans favor replacing the Electoral College with a direct popular vote, and 17 states (and D.C.) pledged to adopt a popular vote. Learn why that means the loss of YOUR voice in presidential elections today in Hillsdale College’s important video.
It's a hard loss. I have so much more respect for Harris than I did when she was first selected as VP.
Nah bjp lost vote share and seats but still much better performance than the democrats.
We did as well as we could, and Harris did all she could. This is a sad week, but we should've seen this coming.
it'll be extremely funny if the other two puppet parties in north korea gains votes in their elections
I think a big part of that was the ol switcharoo. Probably the best move we could have made in late 2024.
Yep. Everyone wants govt reform but keeps sending the same so nothing swamp creatures back over and over
What part of no amount of GDP growth can make up for cultural rot through migration and social liberalism don’t you people understand?
That's 100% not the sad part, it's the good part.
It suggests that in even neutral environment Ds would win, probably in a landslide in favorable one.
It's a very good reason to be optymistic as Rs are now stuck with very unpopular lame duck president.

Arguably, being Governor of California has way more power than being VP
