Waymo isn't screwing around. Notably this is an exclusive deal—the only way to get a Waymo in Atlanta or Austin will be through the Uber app, and Uber is going to handle a lot of the maintenance and cleaning duties. This helps Waymo focus on its technology and expand faster.

Real question is who owns the vehicles? I ran a car through getaround for awhile and it was extremely difficult. Buying the land so the vehicles can dwell, installing the chargers, insuring them, staff to clean them, repairs. Right now Uber doesn’t have to do any of that.
One thing I don't understand is what fleet services Uber will be using. It's not like they normally have a depot for cleaning and charging cars, right?
Btw seems good news for us privacy-minded folk who have been using their Android phone without tying it to their Google account. Which normally works well - almost all non-Google apps are fine, including Uber/Lyft - but the app insists on using the device's Google account.

These cars are going to get trashed, and Uber won’t have tips to steal from drivers. Just expensive cars, real estate, and actual employees. Cars will be cum stained and wreak of barf and marijuana.
