Never cared about curling until I found out Sweden set up a surveillance operation to catch Canada cheating.
Now I’m invested.

After 2 hours of studying videos and the rules of curling, I’m something of a curling expert myself.
So did they really cheat? I heard you can touch it all the way to the green line and it’s fine? 
So from my newly acquired, deep knowledge of Curling Federation rules, there is no touching of the granite ever. The handle may be retouched before the hog line. A Canadian curler had her stone removed from play for the exact same violation according to this article:
Cheating involves intent.
There is no intent.
A violation or fault in the delivery only.
Stick to surfing.
I agree that in most sports, including curling, breaking a rule in the moment is not automatically cheating. The unethical part is denying it after you know you did it. Once the player knows they touched it, sees the replay, and still says, “No, I didn’t,” it’s no longer just a
Dang, now I’m invested too! Who knew this sport could be so dramatic 
I’m ready for the show now.
Curling is about to shatter viewing records, and somehow, everyone will be rooting for the Swedes.
