Boom Supersonic jet breaks sound barrier to open way for new ‘Concorde’
i don't quite understand the point. Boom is cool. It's cool the FT ran something, but feels like no more than a judgement call
The Berlin Wall fell for a reason. It would be foolish to consider trying to rebuild it - and all it represents - today.
Global economic power is shifting back to Asia, led by China, India, and Indonesia:

The global economic center is shifting east.
For much of history, the West reigned supreme.
Europe and North America were the engines of economic growth, their industrial might and vast resources tipping the scales in their favor.
The center of gravity hovered between these
Show moreThere wasn’t even a sonic boom which seems to be primary concern of when I search for supersonic in the app. Have they laid off all the science and technology writers to cover historic test flights?
Good news but this is still decline.
The Concorde was both faster and carried more people.
This is the same story as the Saturn V from the 1960’s and 70’s to today’s NASA SLS. A weaker less capable successor version.

But thanks to some of us did follow along! It was cool seeing the 3 planes flying together before the test.
The Boom plane is going to cruise at a slower speed than the Concorde and its engines produce less thrust. Why have we gone backwards over 50 years?
So, 50 years later, your proposed achievement is to build an aircraft with lower cruising speed and less passenger capacity? Am I correct?
They need to make a 300 passenger capable plane in parallel to Overture.
Then a smaller one that’s even faster than the 3.
Live in Tehachapi and can confirm I didn’t hear anything! Normally do hear the occasional freight train hitting the house from the Air Force stuff.
can't expect it to be "front page" news but worthy of at least a blurb
This is ground breaking!!! Why in the world isn’t this the lead story in the news? Think about how this technology will allow us to travel so much quicker.
Who cares? Nobody reads those two any more.
What is the range of the XB-1? Can we expect a New York to LA demo flight?
Wall Street ain't ready for this...
Coinbase launched Base ~1 year ago
This Layer 2 blockchain has raked in ~$1.2M every week on average
Now Wall Street is FOMOing into crypto.
Front run them by reading Milk Road. 5 minutes. Every day. For free.
How is this different than what bombardier did 4 years ago?
They're marxists. They will try to create a climate of depression and demoralization throughout the country until a marxist is back in power. The good news (Boom) will be toned down, the bad news (DeepSeek) amplified.
I have news for you about subsonic airliners not backed by the government…
Preble Jefferson can see five seconds into the future.
When government agencies become aware of his skill, Preble will do whatever it takes to protect his family.
Why they didn’t say, probably it’s accidental, however it’s better if you at least open Wiki to read the story, and you will understand that is at least 3 step back of technology allows!
And if I remember correctly the first civil boom is by Scal-Composite with their spacecraft
First supersonic *jet* aircraft. Scaled Composites built at least one supersonic vehicle, but it was rocket powered.
That’s awesome, though the FT got the date of the first supersonic flight wrong. It was October 14, 1947. I know this because on October 14, 1997, on the 50th anniversary, Gen Chuck Yeager recreated that flight in an F-15 at EDW and took my USAFA ‘88 class ring with him.
Just look at those stats. Concorde really was an amazing achievement, given where technology was 60 years ago
Any chance in the final design that those engines will be placed above wing to continue the BOOM reduction felt on the ground?

I didn’t realize that their production aircraft design is the same length as Concorde, I thought it was going to be much smaller.
#ChuckYeager for the win. Without him supersonic flight wouldn't exist, it would've been a few decades before it would be feasible.
Got one up in Canada
Investors Business Daily and Scientific American should create "article storyboards" with HTML5 & CSS.
Boom should create screensavers akin to what Apple OS X has for MacBook's as well.
Commercial supersonic travel for billionaires- in the worst case scenario for climate change- that is suicide science
