NEWS: Law firms that made deals with Trump worried about losing clients if they didn't. But it looks like there is risk in the opposite direction: A major client, Microsoft, has pulled business from a firm that made a deal and gave it to a fighting firm
Conversation
In a case before the Delaware Chancery Court, Microsoft dropped Simpson Thacher, which had at least 4 lawyers working on it and which had made a deal with the Trump admin, and added three partners from Jenner & Block, which is fighting a Trump executive order targeting it.
Fighting firms are leaning into the concerns clients may have in working with a settling firm. Jenner wrote on a website it set up to document its EO fight that making a deal with the White House “would mean compromising our ability to zealously advocate for all of our clients.”
The Supreme Court has ruled: You are required to submit your private information to the federal government for businesses. Including home address, copy of your driver's license, and other details. Failure results in fines and imprisonment.

Bravo to Washington State (District 12 as it were). is leading the law firms fight. Now getting in board. We’re just waiting for to grow a spine.
Good! Those F%^kers should feel the pain of selling out their country and the rule of law.
Well no shit. Who wants their info in the hands of these idiots? Of course you should leave a firm that capitulates. If lawyers aren't willing to fight, they aren't good lawyers.
I don't know why anyone would be surprised. Why would I want a lawyer or firm that roles over? I want someone that's going to come out swinging from the minute I tell them my issue. Who needs a desk jockey?

Good move. If the Trump form of fascism does not succeed, a lot of people are going to pay a price. My bet is against Trump.
The firms folded precisely because their clients demanded it. For every Microsoft there are a dozen PE firms that want to avoid scrutiny of their deals. Simpson Thacher is not known for litigation in any event.
It makes sense. Law firms that made these deals are beholden to this administration and not their clients. Any dealing with the government in court has a conflict of interest, and how can they trust their own lawyers in those cases.

Good luck with that, Microsoft. Pretty sure those lawyers are guilty of crimes and this was an opening move to give them a chance to avoid jail. Time for DOJ to treat these criminal lawyers like the government did Arthur Anderson: send in the raid teams and give death sentence!
No ethical law firm should be making any deals with the president. Trump is not above the law.
#ETTD. Law firms that stand up to the "illegal adminstration's shake down" will end up worse off than had they stood up for rule of law.
I guess cowardice doesn't pay. Who would hire a law firm that pre and post caves?
Further white privilege BLM Establishment drivel. Who cares, firstly, and it's probably half the story. You're simply dredging deep for some vague anti-Trump resistance movement piece. Is this what the Democrats are all about? Revenge politics? Microsoft? Bring out Sam B-F

Did Microsoft ever feel the need to provide business to lawfirms and lawyers that were harrassed by the Biden admin?
