It's companies just getting better at what they're doing as they go, and as tech gets better. High wages also spur more investment in tech. Abundant supply males people happy, inflation makes people pissy. More supply.

People don’t seem to understand that if we reshore more activity to the US there will be more robots and automation, ESPECIALLY if the plants are green field builds.

Love the optimism, but aren't we forgetting the elephant in the room? What about the workers displaced by automation? We need a strategy to upskill our workforce, not just boast about shiny new tech.

We need to protect workers individually and jobs at a macro level. We don't need to protect individual (inefficient) jobs.

I am old enough to remember when blue collar workers could be in the middle class. Welcome to the rust belt - but the rich are getting richer.

Like it or not automation is the future of automobile manufacturing as much as labor unions hate it.

I think the basic problem with “young men are becoming more right wing because they’re freaking out over losing the privileges they’ve had forever” analysis is that they are YOUNG—by definition they haven’t lived long enough for that to be the explanation
