If Trump fires Powell, he's also going to clean house at the Fed. That's when the real Constitutional crisis would start.
x.com/_investinq/sta a shadow fed chair is a terrible idea!
these people who will maintain their integrity in the face of this lunacy and the pressure to do as the leader wishes...these are the best of your country and they will be among those who save it.
That always struck me as a fairly obvious flaw in the Trump plan.
Thank you for keeping us updated! I always feel anxiety when you make a financial post.
According to the latest dot plot, 7 members don’t expect a rate cut this year. Powell doesn’t make that decision alone, whether Trump likes it or not. Bashing Powell won’t change a thing, all it does is make Trump look like a spoiled, stubborn toddler.
Even if by some miracle
You don’t mess with the Fed. They’re a lot more powerful than POTUS when it comes to economic policy because they’re owned by the big banks.
Yeah I honestly don’t get his move here
He can appoint whoever he wants next year why all this stupidity now?
And the fact that he hired Powell just makes him look so stupid each time he says Powell is incompetent
As they should. Just wondering why they acted so recklessly in the pre-election rate cut
Several of their terms run out next year just like Powell (different months )
This is not surprising. There's only one Fed board retirement in Trump's term. So he can put a loyalist on the board in January and make him chairman next May. But aside from self-coup he can't change the 6 other board members (including Powell) or five rotating local appointees.
I mean people think the fed chair is like a dictator or something. The reality is that the board has 14 year appointments with a mix of the presidential appointments . Powel can even going back to being a regular member of the board for 2 more years.
More or less expected tbh lol
The Fed Chairman doesn’t have the power Trump thinks they have
Can they explain why they voted to lower rates 2x under biden leading up to the elections even though inflation had not come down?
This is literally what the goal is: going back to regional rates.
Markets will take one of the biggest crashes in modern history. So of course he'll do it.
This is in part to tell Trump that finding some lame excuse to fire Powell is just going to be bad for him and his cronies.
Trump doesn’t seem to understand that the regional Fed Presidents do not report to the Fed Chairman. They are independent. And this statement is wonderfully reassuring!
Housing is already at an all time high… he’s out of his damn mind expecting rates to come down.
JPowell is one of the last semblances of normalcy in our federal government. Even the MILITARY leadership has been gutted.
He needs to be protected at all costs.
The plot is not to fire him, but to use him as a scapegoat candidate. Fire him will cause real damage to Trump. But the posture of firing hedges the risk if economy tanks due to tariff, or rates/debt explode. It’s a typical political long/short strategy
So...who is actually in charge at the Fed if "lower" chairs can willfully ignore Powell if they want?
Signs of revolt are popping up at all levels. Trust in institutions and leaders is getting wiped out. The tipping point to full revolt is coming. Not sure what the event will be but it's coming. People are getting more tightly wound up. Too much tension building.
The C in FOMC is for committee. There is no wow there it’s just how committees function.
Best for the economy translates to, "we will keep printing money and indebting the American public"
As they should. Trump just wants someone in to make drastic interest rate cuts, while ignoring all the data that’s saying not right now.
Wow - another made up post by Haki. Not what is stated in the direct quote.
Very much needed reassurance
Bond market is freaking out over Trump appointing another FOx News dipshit
He will probably try Maria Bartaroma or something equally idiotic
Nobody gives a crap. Repeal the federal reserve act. It’s a worthless piece of shit that did little more than set our currency on a path to destruction. Now, I know you commies love that because you get a boner over the endless printing of money.
