Actually, a little, tbh. But I’m morally absolved because I didn’t vote for it. (I don’t like people actually getting hurt tho. That frakking sucks.)
Chesterton's Fence is the idea that you shouldn't take something away without first understanding why it's there. But there's a complementary idea that I first heard from Musk that says: you need to take things away until something breaks to understand what's necessary.
Given the choice between the emperor who causes a kerfuffle by running inside to put on some clothes, after he realizes he's naked, and the emperor who parades around in his birthday suit, insisting that any discussion of his nudity is a "baseless conspiracy theory..."
Someone in a space I was in last night spoke about needing to come up with $2k a month for medication because of changes to prescription drug coverage. They were scared and depressed. A number of other folks spoke about fears of losing Medicaid for themselves of their family.
This is, literally, just the governmental version of moving fast and breaking things. The alternative is to be trapped in sludge.
chaos but movement > bloated stagnation you know this, Noah. you're in the startup ecosystem.
Aww yes. We should uphold the status quo to avoid making noise or disruptions. Terrific point.
It’s ok

Jeff Bezos explains the difference between one-way door decisions and two-way door decisions In the simplest terms, a “two-way door decision” is one that’s easy to reverse, and a “one-way door decision” is one that’s impossible or very costly to reverse. As Jeff explains:

𝑼𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝑻𝒓𝒖𝒎𝒑 𝑾𝒐𝒏 The liberal establishment has colossally failed us and ushered in a dangerous Trump administration in the process. The only answer is a bottom-up working-class movement. ★ NEW ARTICLE ⬇️
Americans voted for Trump because they were bored under the quiet prosperity of Biden and wanted to feel engaged by their TV and social media feeds.
These things are bound to happen when you think you can do to American government what you did to Twitter.
It would be more fun if not war next door, in Ukraine.
Fun! My brother works in pure research and everyone had their salaries frozen. He works for James Webb Space telescope which works on some pretty wonderful discoveries. Everything needed reform but vengeful scorched earth J6 bum rush is not the right way.
I don't think it's incompetence, I think it's well thought through strategy. And I think we're all thinking, holy s*** they can turn off funding in an instant like that, and have the balls to do it? Feels like a Musk thing
How long until Musk is gone, you think? Like how much executive orders is he going to slide in front of Trump that causes a huge public backlash before he gets canned?
This is exactly what they wanted. They were bored with their comfortable lives and imagined they wanted to live in a dystopian Netflix series. Only they can't turn this one off and go to bed. Morons.
So you think a 24 hour social media story is chaos? Nothing happened. Govt fucks up like this on a regular bias. Wait a month and tell me what is different and is causing chaos.

This is NOT a rescission of the federal funding freeze. It is simply a rescission of the OMB memo. Why? To end any confusion created by the court's injunction. The President's EO's on federal funding remain in full force and effect, and will be rigorously implemented.

I'm enjoying that the bark is much bigger than the bite. The guardrail agains Trump/MAGA is his incompetence and ineptitude. But DO make him feel like he's getting so much done, and that his press conference just killed.

They were stymied by a Democrat judge; they’ll try something else. Maybe the giant sucking sound of de facto UBI for Democrat activities will be silenced yet. And yes, enjoying the “chaos”. Keep breaking eggs, Trump.
