Good morning.
Last night at 8:51pm Mountain Time, the Valar Atomics Nuclear Operations team brought Ward 250 to 10kW thermal output. We held this power level throughout the night.
This is another historic milestone from the Valar team, marking first nuclear power by a startup.

The reactor is still standing this morning at 10kW and will remain at this power output throughout the day until we achieve steady state. No electrons yet—we are rejecting this heat to atmosphere for now.
Although this is a small power output for a nuclear reactor, it is a monumental leap for advanced nuclear. Ward 250 is a power reactor; built not just to go critical, but with all the requisite systems to extract power from a core.
This includes a helium loop, a reactor cavity cooling system, online helium filtering and purification, online radionuclide activity monitoring, wide range fission detection, nested nuclear HVAC and stack monitoring, a primary heat exchanger, and a control system built for power.
The Nuclear Operations team will continue to take Ward 250 through the remaining steps of power ascension until we reach full power, then will perform a variety of full power tests. We will continue to provide updates and learnings throughout power ascension.
Also—Mya is a hero. I took this photo at 12:01am last night. Smoothest HTGR driver in the world!
Why is it that we are asked to celebrate something that was perfected in the 1950’s? We have been doing nuclear for at least 60 or 70 years.
I worked at Marble Hill in 1983 as a Coop Engineer and can fully appreciate what you are achieving. This is the future, finally starting to be realized.
This is sick! but you have to let me up your security game.
seriously.
Why are you doing this to humanity? We cry for peace and understanding. You amp nuclear for profit.
Your reactors make my brain hurt.
How long until I can lease a containerized unit to power a construction site?
We just saw what happened to the first commercial company to fly to space.
I guess it's the same path
An inspiration! Was talking with the wife last night about applying for one of the open engineering positions in Orangeville. Would be fun to work on reactors again but it’ll be a tough sell to move down south from where we are now.
Small business owners are not just managing meetings.
They are managing:
-clients
-team updates
-supplier details
-job site conversations
-follow-ups they cannot afford to forget
