For the first time in history! A Ukrainian F-16 has shot down a russian Su-35 โ€” a historic first. The strike took place near the russian border in Kursk, with support from a Swedish Saab 340 aircraft that provided real-time targeting data. 1/n

2/ Experts call it a breakthrough. The Swedish AWACS system enabled the F-16 to strike before the Su-35 even knew it was under attack. If Ukraine keeps neutralizing russian aviation and missile systems, the war could finally shift in Ukraineโ€™s favor. Source: Bild
The F-16 can get targeting data from other aircraft and doesn't emit with its radar. The enemy might not be aware of its existence (especially now that the Russians are low on A-50's). The Su-35 only knew it was in trouble when the missile's seeker activated about 10 seconds out.
Thank you ! That was going to be my next question. How can Ukraine exercise command and control of fighters? I wondered about the logistics of getting targeting info to the Ukrainian Air Force. Modern fighters are useless if you don't know where the enemy is.
Platform doesnโ€™t mean as much anymore; itโ€™s the Radar Range Equation
Luky Shot like Jugoslawia with a B1: On 27 March 1999, during the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia amid the Kosovo War, a Yugoslav Army unit shot down a Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk stealth ground attack aircraft of the United States Air Force by firing a S-125 Neva/Pechora surface-to-air
This is stupid. So Russian AWACS can provide targeting data for Iran without repercussions? Thatโ€™s my take away for Sweden NATO needs to knock it off A non-allied country can lend targeting data without any fallout. NATO sets the standard again
Can the Saab 340 actually guide the missiles launched by the F-16 onto its target? If so it would theoretically be possible to use F-16 as a launch vehicle for the Meteor AAM and massively increase engagement range.
So Sweden located the plane, then provided the coordinates and targeting data for input to the missile. So, should we say Sweden shot down a Russian plane? A historic first.
I hope they can curb the glide bombs this way. They don't need to down a lot RU aircraft for this, only scare them far enough away.
What is the role of the F16? Just as a launcher for the rocket that is guided with data from the Saab 340? The F16 could have been any aircraft able to launch this missile and communicate with the Saab?
I canโ€™t wait to see what new weapons Ukrainians r going to develop when they win the war. Bcs they will be the strongest army in the world
Maybe you should say โ€œSwedish built Saab 340โ€ Iโ€™m sure it was not manned by Swedes but Sweden provided Ukraine with 2 of them last year.
Any other American president would get a blinding hardon knowing our F-16 and AIM 120 missile took out one of Russiaโ€™s most advanced fighter jets.. Nope not Trump
Since you didnโ€™t post any proof of evidence, I will help you here The pilot of F-16 and the frontline Reporter.

This is kinda not true , the Su-35 wreckage clearly shows it crashed in a single piece meaning a possible malfunction or something else.
nope.. the su 35 carcass looks like it had problems. still manage to land perfect shape.. you know shapes of plane that getting shot?
If true this is something I suspected would start to happen. This is likely linked (no pun intended) to CSI being enabled and the use of amraam 120D, specifically D version.
The AWACS is built by Saab, been used by Sweden but have been donated to Ukraine. Its operated by Ukraine. Semantics but important.
If this happened, I hope the Russians shoot down Swedish planes too. Remembering that several F16s have already been destroyed.

Hahahha Se inventan historias llenas de tecnicismos Cuando rusia derribo el f16 no publicaron nada Solo dijieron que fue derribado Probablemente el su35 fue abatido por Patriot
If you have no success at all, like Ukraine, you have to make an elephant out of every fly as an intellectual supporter.
This dude is fighting on twitter for Ukraines borders to be closed, and Israels borders to be closed, but in the same time then he also fight for EU and USAs borders to be open! This is the stupidity from these people!

The Kiev bastards don't want to take the bodies of their dead soldiers. There are two reasons: it's scary to admit that there are 6,000 of them and they don't want to pay widows. What Satanic scum! Burn them in hell!

The SU-35 loss combined with Operation Spiderweb losses makes for a very, very bad week for Russian aviation.
So we have Western NATO members actively providing intel and data for the UKR to shoot down RU planes. Just another prove this is a NATO/UKR proxi war against RU. Thanks for pointing that out.
So Sweden entered the warโ€ฆ I am sure Russia is glad to hearโ€ฆ I am sure this small detail will be forgoten when Russia responds in kind to Sweden
Sad that she doesn't agree...

There is not a single piece of tangible evidence that a Su-35S has been shot down by a Ukrainian F-16AM. I am very skeptical about this. The F-16AM, even using the APG-66 in the V2 version, would at best detect a target just over 100km away, whereas an Su-35S with the Irbis-E
