We really don't discuss enough how much of human culture prior to the 18th century is about hating farming x.com/SamtheNightOwl…

I've never considered the Fall of Man as an allegory for the beginning of agriculture, sedentism, and civilization. Once you start having ideas about good and evil and laws and wearing clothes in your little town it's all over.
Once farming is fully automated, that means we are no longer punished by God to work for our food. Next punishment tech is working on is the age limit of 120 years. Tech will free us from punishment of our sins
this is because farmers begin to think of themselves as independent since they are no longer reliant upon the Lord (from their POV) for daily sustenace. the Lord favors the shepherd who knows daily that he relies upon providence.
I dunno. I’ve never known a perpetually anxious family farmer. Each season bringing interspersed cyclical celebrations of new life - new fruit, vegetable, fungi, animals into the world. Each year a few more hard won wisdoms - a lifetime of continual stewardship has its rewards.
I don't know why people romanticize it. Country living is boring and there is always manure on the farm. Also why do some have this odd idea that only rural farmers are somehow the true, or authentic, or good people? Cities are great!
farming is when we left the garden, it was all downhill from there.
Irrigation, GMOs, and the internal combustion engine have made it a lot more pleasant endeavor. Especially if your livelihood doesn’t depend on it.
For the sin of participating in the unleashing of AGI, you will be dammed to do farming for the rest of your life later
It is essentially the mythology of going from a hunter gatherer to a farmer and our ancestors suffered tremendously for it. Only now can we even remotely live like HGs' again.
A lot of do-gooders shutting down sweat shops overseas had no idea how much worse a life of subsistence farming is.
What is the nature of the guilt that your teachers call his Original Sin? What are the evils man acquired when he fell from a state they consider perfection? Their myth declares that he ate the fruit of the tree of knowledge—he acquired a mind and became a rational being. It was

The subtext here is that once a human population understands that sex is the cause of children and that paternity exists, matriarchal modes of social organization collapse. At the root of all leftism is the attempt to recreate the Paleolithic mode in the aftermath.
Don't forget that the Bible was written by the intellectuals of the bronze age... Like all intellectuals, they insist that everyone has the same preferences as them (otherwise "false consciousness"), and that the world should be remade to their tastes.
Truth. Farming *was* the original sin…they were in the Garden of Eden just eating whatever they liked and then there was a orchard (farmed fruit), they ate from the Tree of knowledge and then it was all births…which is exactly what happens when nomads become farmers 🤷🏻‍♀️
Funny but your interpretation is only partly correct. The curse is that you will need to put in alot of effort just to get manageable returns. Secondly, the curse is not just for farming, it extends to any work we do.
Hope not. I’m planning a small scale diversified vegetable farm rn. Been spending some time each day over the past year working it out.
When romanticizing substance farming and homesteading and whatnot it's important to remember to only romanticize the way we do things like dying in war. Cool narrative. Actually awful to live through. Should be more obvious but it's not for some reason
My dad is a farmer, and that’s the reason what keeps him healthy and mentally sound. Putting food on the table (for others) is def not an easy game, but overall its much more satisfying.
We’re biologically more suitable for doing farming than to sit down and grind 9-5x6 days in front of a computer
A lot of trauma left over on the human race after it's transition from hunter gather society into a farming society
An ancient Akkadian creation myth had the gods create humans so humans could do all the farm work because the gods were tired of it. Game was rigged from the start
Cuts both ways roon 😭

People forget that within God’s punishment there is guidance and redemption x.com/tszzl/status/1…
Yeah but not being able to farm and instead having to reside in cities is an even greater punishment
Genesis 1:28 ..“Be fruitful and become many, fill the earth and subdue it," Gen 2:15 Jehovah God took the man and settled him in the garden of Eʹden to cultivate it and to take care of it. God gave the whole Earth to us to make it beautiful just like the garden of eden.
So all those edible and quite tasty crops that grow wild all over the Amazon is what, some way to cheat out of this punishment?
it was a curse on the soil but it was a mercy for our wicked souls to need to work so hard. now we don't work half as much but what do we do instead?
