I’m not sure I’d call it a bug, direct democracy is just very flawed in general. You need layers of governance to filter out the worst excesses of democracy.

Or there was a proposition last election that was effectively a bill of attainder against a (scummy) non-profit. It was so narrowly tailored it would have only applied to a single institution. Brought by that institution's enemies to try and hurt it.
