Caltrain ridership is surging: Doubling over past 2 years & up 60% over past year. Ridership is now ~2/3 of pre-COVID. It’s rising every month. When we support & improve transit, people ride it. That’s why we’re working so hard to stabilize transit funding & improve service.

I took the Caltrain last week while on a business trip to silicon valley (I was just following ChatGPTs instructions to get around). It was easy and clean and fast and cheap. My local colleagues had the reflex to use Uber for everything for some reason.

Big increase! Thank you! The growing SF Bay ferry system is also supportive of those with e-wheelchairs, e-scooters, bicycles for going car-free and supports access to Caltrain.
Please address the related crime and filth of mass transit… Affordability is critical… BART is an example of government financial shenanigans…
We need to connect BART and CALTRAIN with Dumbarton Rail, with a stop in East Palo Alto. Small little project, I am sure you can get it done!
Nice job. Can you please also help to fast track the extension to salesforce transit center. I bet you this would double ridership.
Good to hear but if you want to increase ridership then help businesses by removing regulations, providing tax relief. I’m all for funding public transit but it need to be on the back of growing our corporate revenue base.
How about show us the profitability of this wildly popular transit system?
Make it safe and orderly and everyone will want to ride. Tolerate even the smallest petty crime and it's all a waste. That's all you have to do if you want to see ridership skyrocket.
Hey Weeener So, ridership is 66% of pre-Covid numbers. Was Caltrain fiscally sustainable before Covid? That's not a great accomplishment because you haven't even gotten to pre-Covid levels. Love the way you spin the numbers though.
Then stop wasting transit funds on street closures. Tax payers don’t want to fund your anti family anti car agenda any then get taxed even more to save failing public transit bc of it. Your career must not go higher. You must not continue to fail up
20/20 campaign? $20/gal for gas, $20/hr unskilled labor. More people will be using those electric bikes. I’m sure you will find a way to continue to legislate unhappiness. Those riders; are they riding for free? Are they living on the transit?
I wonder how many of those riders and illegals. How many of them can’t afford a car. How many are no longer able to pay for the ridiculous gas prices.
Drug addicts riding to city to shoot up? How about loser of The Smart Train in Marin/Sonoma. Just an excuse for your developwhore forced high rise housing around the stations in greenfields. $90 subsidy per boarding. Now they want bridge toll money to survive. Deny it= credence.
central subway to north beach and beyond, please. also, we need to get a handle on transit safety/cleanliness - especially bart.
Wait for the current numbers, its plummeting with Ice Raids. I take the bus for work in LA, down a minimum 20% - 30% from what I've observed
Yeah it’s called companies moving out of SF and into the South Bay and forcing 5 day RTO prick
Your lackey is blocking his constituent. So illegal like everything he does.

Dear Urbanists, Families should be able to enjoy city life. They shouldn't have to expect sketchy behavior when walking or riding the bus. If you truly support "all ages and abilities" planning, then don't dodge the difficult conversations about safety & security.

"The homeowners sold their houses at huge profits." You really think that is all those homeowners cared about? They bought their homes there for many reasons, never thinking they'd have to sell bc some huge building would take over their neighborhood. What a soulless thing to say
A few years ago, we left the Sydney opera at 11 PM. There was a well coiffed, elderly woman in a glittering gown who had been sitting in *very* good seats. She opened her umbrella and walked 5 minutes in a light rain to the city bus and got on. This remains my bus benchmark.

When I was at Stanford in the 1980s, the San Francisco peninsula rail line @Caltrain was a primary limiting factor on my education. It ran every two hours and stopped at 10 PM. Why? 1/ x.com/Scott_Wiener/s…
the fact that in most of America you need to buy a car (+parking, insurance, maintenance, gas, etc) to live your life because walking, biking, and transit infrastructure is so bad
