This is maybe the most Trump thing ever. Completely setting aside U.S. strategic interests in order to make a fundamentally insignificant amount of money on a deal.

The Chinese would pay a lot for F35s and advanced US military technology, too. Regardless of whether you think Nvidia should be able to sell H20s in China, charging a fee in exchange for relaxing national security export controls is a terrible precedent. ft.com/content/cd1a07

Getting paid for IP theft is better than giving it away for free as we have been doing.
Trump seems to have a time horizon of a week or two - he is incapable of planning any further into the future.
His mind cannot comprehend the value of something unless it’s gained via a financial transaction. Even getting almost unalived didn’t appear to cause him an ounce of existential dread. If experiencing something like THAT doesn’t move you to reflect, all’s lost.
