"Magic doesn't exist" *Inscribes tiny runes into magic rocks to making thinking machines using processes beyond the understanding of almost all mortal minds*

From early design to volume manufacturing, our computational lithography software enables chipmakers to optimize the chip patterning process. Layer by layer, chip by chip, wafer by wafer, computational lithography is helping push microchip technology to new limits.

If you want a guide to the magic of future solar system real estate speculation, I have just the thing for you!

Sometimes when my computer decides it doesn’t want to work you just gotta appease the machine spirt and most of the time it works, funny what magic runes inscribed from rocks dipped in acid do.
I sometimes look at the grains of sand on the beach and think about how this sand can now ultimately be used to generation simulations of sand. Kind of like how candy corn is made up entirely of corn.
It's just insane. Every step is insane, EUV light? Insane tin bending*. Focusing and shaping that light? Insane optics. Moving parts? Insane precision All at insane speed. *They zap droplets of tin as they fall all while making sure that same tin doesn't contaminate the machine
Like Arthur C. Clarke's third law states, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
serious question: if lithography is so expensive because of the difficulties of working on tiny dimensions, is there no market for making big dumb GPUs? space isn’t a major concern for me as a consumer.
Transistors getting smaller force designers to work against the laws of physics so the electrons don't jump the gap on their own It's literally getting into magic territory at this point compared to back in the 50s when a magazine would tell you how to make a transistor radio
“Magic isn’t real” *discovers and processes a rare form of sand into a magic rock that when electrified can solve mathematical and physical problems millions of times faster than the human brain all for the cost of a few thousand dollars to the consumer*
In my mind, magic is rather the ability to control matter without a materialistic causal theory of it. Magnets were used long before magnetism as a phenomena was discovered. As far as I can tell, there is not one step in making wafers we couldn't explain causally.
FWIW I recommend playing with Turing Tumble by to get an actual gut feeling that... yes, really it's fine having computations done by rocks, or here falling metal balls on plastic trinkets. We gradually improve the substrate but in fine, it is the same.
🤣 it’s not magic just maths, physics, chemistry, etc… just human knowledge, research and engineering. 🤷‍♂️
beam stuff from metal drops. black powder stuff, all carbon spaghetti. laser chips going all quantum loops bringing forth the light. its all magic sauce, laid on glassy but not gassy chips.
Someone should try inscribing a real rune into the chips and see what happens.
All those dumbass accounts posting old building with teenager quotes 'We used to make cathedrals' should be ashamed and banned
Integrated circuits and photolithography are simple concepts once you get the basics down. Most people don’t know how compound interest works either, but once you think about it and read….
happy you are fascinated by tech, but this is the result of hundreds of years of applied math and sciences. the distinction is important. saying 'magic' really removes the actual talent and effort it took to get here. Also we haven't even scratched the surface on this place, btw.
You ask the Prophet how he knows all this. "The sand" he says "It speaks to me. Just as it spoke to other men long ago. The very same men who first gave sand the ability to speak, the same men who wiped themselves off this very land leaving behind nothing but this sandy desert."
