Just saw a post (curse you, Twitter search, for disappearing it) describing the exemptions from French law and regulation that made this happen.
Trump actually looks happy and impressed there. He appreciates the showmanship. Hopefully good vibes for the 250th anniversary.
The French state disregarded all the administrative regulations it usually imposes on private companies to achieve this result in such a short timeโ€ฆ QED
"the French parliament had to vote a special law that effectively exempted the project from most of the regulations that would have normally applied and slowed it down considerably"
About the same time it takes for the US Government to build a restroom (big outhouse) in a National Park!!
Cus one is a huge profit making tourism icon and the other shuffles a group of miserable commuters a few minutes faster
and with about 900 000 000 โ‚ฌ. Basically, they could spend whatever they wanted to get thing done quickly.
Conspicuous by its absence: curiosity as to who is burning down churches all over the Western world, and why
With the money spent on Notre Dame, San Francisco could have installed three outdoor toilets.
It stood without a single fire for from 1163 before it was burn by jihadists in 2019 (French does not have a clue about it, since Macron ruled out any investigation, and criminalized inquiries before the fire was extinguished). How long it will stand till the next fire?
Macron fucked it up big time , stained glasses , floor , ceilings etc.... it is a butchery.
Special law and management by a militant commander with full authority - otherwise it would have required 2000 years
It's not the same, cheap reproduction and it could have been avoided by simply not importing millions of middle easterners
Donโ€™t tell anyone, but they build their Metro faster as well, using 19th century equipment and engineering.
We had to suspend many laws and remove possibilities of appeal to allow the work to take place. If we could do this for everyone, France would be much richer and happier.
Yes, but many units of affordable housing were added to Notre Dame? Were the concerns of the local community sufficiently heard? Did they add enough parking?
Sure but I bet they didn't consult as many stakeholders, or do as many impact reports
Sure the artists who sang at the opening got paid far more than the real people who fixed the structure and only got claps as additional appreciation. The world is honouring entertainment more than other fields leading to youths now rushing content creation and entertainment
Replacing a roof is easier than digging into 175 years of SF. It was a utility relocation project that MTA got the blame for when SFPUC should have taken it.
My guess is that they were able to fast-track it or exempt the project from regulations that'd slow it down

It's worth noting that, in order to make it possible to rebuild the cathedral so quickly, the French parliament had to vote a special law that effectively exempted the project from most of the regulations that would have normally applied and slowed it down considerably. x.com/ArmandDoma/staโ€ฆ
I heard one of the artisans who worked on the project that it was a โ€œone time war effortโ€ and they should not be expected to work so much on normal projects ๐Ÿ˜
Yeah, but rebuilding Notre Dame is something people want. Public transportation should be outlawed by constitutional amendment.
You think that's bad, here in Ireland it's taken us 14 years to build a hospital and its still not finished. In fact it could end up being the most expensive structure ever built. It's a fucking hospital.
Of course, itโ€™s California. Whereโ€™s the multi-billion dollar train by the way? No train? Whereโ€™s the money?
Amazing but Notre Dame is a cultural focal point of the country AND a religious building. Nobody gives a rats arse about traffic or any infrastructure so the beaurocrats charge a zillion. This is the sort of thing Trump's DOGE needs to fix.

Yeah and they did a completely shit job at it. It looks nothing like it did before on the inside. Fucking hell is it so hard not to make something the exact same as before?
Yeah because the French parliament passed a law that removed most of the burdensome regulations that slow down projects. And San Francisco has 10x as many as France. You wanna fix it? Letโ€™s repeal some red tape.
that's because europeans are well educated socialists, and San Francisans and american in general are dumb morons. Proof: orange baboon will be president again
What kind of c**t are you the that writes "fucking Notre Dame"? You're fucking low life.
