The problem is that it's almost surely, "look how cool I'm big bro", as opposed to "don't mess with me lil bro".
Trump asked for this to be done. There is no way it would have occurred otherwise.
Neat but I disagree with the original posts statement. Not one of our presidents is going to put fear into a former kgb agent who has literally killed many people by his own hands. Not a Putin fan but he is scarier than anyone in our government.
Putin is pretty notorious for this kind of petty flexing on other world leaders (he invited his big dog into a meeting with Merkel who is afraid of dogs) so it's good to speak to him in a language he understands.
I think describing Putin and Trump walking together as "Putin's entourage" is the coolest part of it, actually.
