In my case, I didn't say it because of wokeness or sensitivity, but because of what I truly believe. I think in general, American and Chinese people will be great friends once the CCP allows us to be. Contrast this with, like, Russia, where we're never going to be friends.

However much I like Scott Sumner, this is my principal beef with his general take on China. There’s just really no reason to think we have the ability to influence Chinese behavior. They have geopolitical goals and they will do what it takes to accomplish those goals.

Yeah going for a nuclear strike when our arsenal is being modernized and is no longer being held back by certain treaty restrictions is certainly one of the moves of all time. Hell we could nearly squeeze an extra thousand nukes out of our land based ICBMs alone.

The F35 has a life cycle cost of $100 million. The Pentagon bought 1000. Only 30% are mission capable at any one time. Congress authorized the purchase of 1500 more. Congress makes America poorer and less secure.
