A key meeting on updating next season's flu shots was canceled by today Even if rescheduled for later, a former official warned us it could hamper availability of shots in fall "This delay will really put manufacturers behind." cbsnews.com/news/fda-cance
A screenshot of text that reads in part: "Last year, the FDA asked the committee to meet on March 5 to decide on how to update the influenza shots for the 2024 to 2025 season. The agency usually announces these meeting dates around a month in advance. Next month's meeting had not yet been publicly disclosed. Even if the meeting is eventually scheduled for later this year, a delay could affect availability of shots at the beginning of flu season. "This delay will really put manufacturers behind. It takes time to optimize updated vaccine virus strain production. They need as much time as possible before the upcoming fall vaccine season," a former federal health official told CBS News."

So what? Manufacturers don't need this. Anyone can guess what strains will be prevalent in the fall. The current process is completely a guessing game. Then they don't run any randomized studies. So they don't even know if they guessed right. They run test negative case control. x.com/Alexander_Tin/…

All they are going to do is make a guess at the prevalent flu strains this fall. Efficacy is usually well below 50% every year. Can't really guess any more poorly than they have in the past by canceling 1 meeting.
Things that make you go hmmm? We give more flu shots than ever and we have more cases of flu than ever. Deadly flu at that. Almost like the overuse of antibiotics has created antibiotics resistant strains.
So you're arguing that our ENTIRE response to the seasonal flu relies on this single meeting? And if this meeting doesn't take place we can't have an effective preparedness and response to the seasonal flu? Think about that for a moment. Something that occurs every single year,

It's okay. Take a dart board and put the strains up on it and close your eyes. Toss a dart. Good as having the meeting.
There were plenty of 24-25 flu vaccine meetings. Guess what? They still missed this season’s formulation. It’s pretty much worthless.

JUST IN: 18 unvaccinated children hospitalized as a result of recent measles outbreak in Ontario, Canada 1 child in intensive care.
RFK Jr said measles patients were hospitalized for quarantine. This is false. They’re hospitalized with: • respiratory distress • pneumonia • dangerously high fever • encephalitis • deadly dehydration from vomiting & diarrhea These are from measles, a serious illness. 1/
