For context this is the shit they’re spewing over there bsky.app/profile/dail...
"Must be a heterosexual white male pilot." – Elon Musk, probably
Oh yessss….the Mike Breen double BANG edit….thank you
If you think I’m not cheering in my chair watching these drops like sports, you’d be wrong. BANG! Thank you hotshots!!!!
I don’t think a lot of people realize how skilled those pilots are. And brave as fuck. They are flying through unimaginable heat and smoke.
Even flying the helicopter in that kind of weather is crazy, but doing this on top of it is even more badass.
Respect to those pilots
My grandfather was Deputy Chief of LA County Fire for a long time, and worked for the department for many decades. He pushed hard for the introduction of helicopters to fight fires, in the late 50s and early 60s, under Chief Klinger. Other fire departments were taking note & doing the same.
It's a little sliver of his legacy - and of all those who were early adopters of all technologies that help fight fire.
Anyone who ever says that geometry and math are not needed skills in life should watch this video and see it in action.
Triangulation to this degree to be able to get the timing just right with the speed of the craft to nail the fire dead-center is pure geometry and math at their best.
Geometry and math are not needed skills in life -FOR ME- 😭 they did amazing, especially if they had to use math to do it lol Maybe it's bc of my diagnosed Dyscalculia, why I hate math so much 😤 but some people who plan to fly in the air better know how to do math lol
you never had to figure out if it would be faster to walk through the park or to take the sidewalk? you don’t need to be using numbers to be doing geometry. i’m better at it and algebra bc my dyscalculia doesn’t interfere as much without all the tiny operations that happen in other math
numbers still freak me out tho man why does the 5 face that way
The roundy part faces the same way as the 3 tho.
If anything, 4 is the weird number.
We can celebrate the FF and also acknowledge the prisoners who are risking their life. They are non-violent, not a flight risk, are making $5 a day to also save lives. They won’t be able to use these skills to make a living wage when they get out that would also help out the community.
I don't know the current state of things but I am an ex felon (non-violent drug possession) and the state processed the reduction and dismissal with very little effort on my part.
The policy is much more complex when it comes to applying for jobs like fire fighting and California voters specifically rejected the ballot initiative making it easier in November. www.cbsnews.com/sanfrancisco...
Let us not forget that in the mid-00s Californians banned gay marriage after it was legal here. We are not as liberal as everyone assumes and like with a ton of the country that have ballot measures they are written in such gobbledygook voters don’t know what a yes or no vote means.
I spent a lot of my childhood and early 20's in the LA Basin, and it was Republican conservative dominant then. (1960's, 70's, early 80's)
Yeah my parents live in Orange County now. They are blues in a sea of red.
I'm so old. When I was a kid, Orange county was literally orange groves. Not one grove left.
The winds and smoke make it even more difficult and dangerous. Godspeed to these brave and skilled people!
"Must be a heterosexual white male pilot." – Elon Musk, probably
According to Andrew Tate ,anyone who has sex with a women not specifically to get her pregnant are really gay
Well I'm guy and call me Shirley on a sat
Fk elmo and his eugenics
Bye bye my mystical freedom loving America 😢

Direct hit on the Sunset Fire in Hollywood. 🎯
Nice work, @lafd.bsky.social #LAFD c/o @nbcla.bsky.social 👨🏼🚒
Those pilots are so good, and doing that at night in treacherous winds, so close to the ground is WILD.
Side bar here-
Even Canadians are helping. After Trump is starting political wars.

So many Canadian utility crews in western North Carolina after the hurricane. Thanks 🇨🇦
My next door neighbor does that. Helicopter pilot firefighter.
Most respect I’ve ever had for a neighbor
Genuinely seems like one of the coolest jobs in the world.
They view everything through this weird and repulsive prism. It’s all about scoring opportunistic points against stuff they don’t like, no matter how dire the circumstances may be. Twisted individuals.
Placed wrongly - should be for the following post.
Am watching like it is a college basketball game three point shout & shouting F yeah!! when they put a bit out.
Am 7 miles from the Palisades fire. 💔💔
Firefighters deserve to be paid like and treated like royalty. Here in Idaho and the Moose Fire almost got my town a few years ago. Only extreme luck and diligent crews kept our town safe and water supply uncontaminated.
I couldn’t sleep last night because I felt I had to concentrate my spiritual energy on supporting the firefighters in Los Angeles, where I lived for 33 years. I focused intently on the Sunset Fire, because it was threatening my favorite neighborhoods. Looks like it paid off.
the only outcome you can claim as a pay off would be if it helped you sleep. i'm sorry, but you don't get to claim a triumph for sending thoughts and prayers.
We can only be glad and grateful for these first responders that help us in situations like these. We would be literally toast without them.
Too many are speaking out ugly against the police, paramedics, firefighters and it bothers me to the core.
They have sacrificial lambs fighting the fires not a glorious as the chopper...
Goddamnit. Honestly we are NOT a civilized society. I hate it here sometimes.
Well some silver linings here...James Woods house burnt down... thoughts and prayers LOL!!!
Haha. Well that’s enough to put a smile on my face. Karma is beautiful.
reminds me of the xmas tree guys up north
