this is actually incredible data. We are almost 3 weeks in and the congestion relief zone has been a massive success: reduced traffic, faster buses, more transit ridership, less pollution, and fewer car crashes.

In the first 12 days of congestion pricing, 37 people were injured in 90 total reported crashes within the congestion relief zone, down from 76 injuries in 199 crashes over the same 12-day period in 2024. nyc.streetsblog.org/2025/01/23/con

Here’s the amazing thing about anyone arguing it won’t work: there’s actually no scenario where it doesn’t work. If traffic remains the same because turns out everyone is happy to pay $9 then the MTA has a brand new money printing machine. Thus, it worked.
What an idiot. Why not raise the rates to $1000 to make crashes zero. When the GDP and tax revenues for NYC drop dramatically, then we know how moronic these clowns are.
Looks like pandemic is the best solution to reduce crashes - note 2020 data was right before the nationwide lockdown, and the number never recovers.
Interesting how it didn't shoot up after the pandemic to pre levels but just raised again. Or is the reason a lot of people died 💀?
So when does the subway system get benefits again? Oh probably never because it's just another way to extract money from hard working NYers. Scam city.
